Just recently, Beyerdynamic released next-generation models of one of their leading lines.
Today in our Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Gen Headphones review, we’ll talk about one product under this category – the T5 3rd Gen headphones. This product is the closed-back version among the series.
And although the models have a couple of similarities, they still couldn’t be more different.
The headphones look the same, but the interior of the T5 3rd Gen significantly shaped its sound signature and build quality. This is what gives off their differences.
In this Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Gen Headphones review, we will focus on the T5 headphones. Here, we will provide you with all the important details to let you know what makes it worth the purchase.
Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Gen Headphones Review Packaging
Before we get into more details about the product, our Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Gen Headphones review will discuss its packaging and contents.
The headphones came in a huge and premium-looking box sporting a clean white theme. A big image of half the headphones’ ear cups is featured in front.
Beyerdynamic can be seen written at the centre top of the image. Then, T5 is written along its key features to the left side of the image.
But what we like and find interesting about its packaging is an extra panel that opens in front. It’s held shut by magnets, and once you open it, you’ll see another photo of the headphones displayed. There’s even a set of detailed descriptions of all the elements integrated into the T5 headphones.
Once we opened the package, the first thing we saw was a couple of paperwork on top. These include a quality guarantee and a warranty information.
After getting everything out, you’ll find a case for the headphones which is made from beautiful and soft black velour. You’ll find the company’s badge in front of the case which adds a nice and simple touch.
Inside the case, you’ll find a couple of other items with the headphones. These include a connection cable with a three-pole stereo jack plug and a stereo jack adapter.
Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Gen Headphones Review – Design and Functionality
This time, we’re looking further into this Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Gen Headphones review to learn about the headphones’ design and functions. Is its build as good as other Beyerdynamic products? We’ll find out.
When looking at the product, you’ll notice that it sports an understated aesthetic which is simultaneously luxurious and simple. It has a sturdy build but with sufficient comfort for supporting long-listening moments.
Do note that despite being an over-ear headphone, the T5 3rd Gen’s ear cups are a bit on the small side. With that, your ears might brush the insides of the ear pads. It’s also good to note that since it’s made from protein-coated leatherette, it tends to warm your ears pretty quick.
But of course, this is something common when using these types of headphones.
Because of the closed-back design, these headphones are specifically suited for use in louder environments. This is all thanks to the T5 3rd Gen’s low impedance which allows it to easily link to mobile devices.
Another great aspect of this product is that it features Tesla-made transducers created by Beyerdynamic Germany. Since the headphones are individually matched and measured in pairs, you can guarantee natural reproduction and maximum sound precision.
The special configuration of drivers also ensures accurate spatial perception. Just like hearing music in front of the stage’s centre when you’re at a concert. Transducers are arranged in their standard tilt for a more natural and clearer sound.
The T5 3rd Gen headphones’ ear pads are extremely soft and comfortable. Plus, the lacking clamp-factor and its perfect weight distribution is a big bonus.
We’re used to excessive weight and clamping, but we’ve never had that issue with any headphones from Beyerdynamic.
We’re also going to talk about the cables of the headphones in this Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Gen Headphones review. For the best possible signal transmission, the T5 3rd Gen headphones sports detachable cables that are made from high-purity OCC 7N copper. Its balanced mode connection cables provide more potential for sound enhancements.
High-quality materials like Alcantara and anodised, finely-brushed aluminium don’t only provide an elegant design to the headphones. These also ensure durability for longer working life.
It comes with replaceable ear pads too, making them adaptable to you once you wear them. This is all thanks to the memory foam which is extremely comfortable to wear and guarantees long-lasting listening enjoyment.

Hands-on with the Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Gen Headphones
Let’s start this section of the Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Gen Headphones review by looking into its audio quality.
Audio Quality of the Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Gen Headphones
When we tried the T5 3rd Gen headphones, we loved its spacious and remarkable presentation for a closed-back pair. Although we didn’t quite get the extent of sound as we would with its siblings, its results were still ‘expansive’. We received a pleasing neutral tone and an engagingly powerful capacity.
Compared to the open-back headphones from Beyerdynamic, this is still a bit more limited when it comes to its Soundstage. It’s because of its closed-back style which can’t really offer the same amount of projection and amplification.
And even if it lacked in size, its rich and clear signature still showcased the different components and instruments present. We still received spatial precision and clarity even if the overall stage was a bit more condensed.
The bass was boosted slightly on the T5 3rd Gen headphones. And when we checked, it resulted in low frequencies that were slightly emphasised.
Its midbass was enhanced above neutral which offered us aural satisfaction in the form of bass dynamics, punch, and power. Beyerdynamic simply made the T5 3rd Gen headphones a pair that’s worth using for audio enjoyment.
When it came to the mids, it gave more to the higher mids. This is likely to compensate for the decreased amount of spaciousness from closed-back headphones.
The T5 3rd Gen headphones’ treble had a ton of great detail, thus, made horns, strings, and guitars sound perfect. Transients and percussions sounded clear which made audio come alive in a great way.
The separation of instruments was excellent and everything sounded good. Treble was great too and we highly appreciate this.
The T5 3rd Gen headphones’ ear cups offered a good amount of isolation from outside noise. When we tried listening to music in a noisy environment, the headphones were able to eliminate environmental noise.
Since it’s a well-made product, the Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Gen headphones offered great passive isolation features. It didn’t replicate active noise cancellation technology, but it did great in isolating noise for closed-back headphones. The ear pads also helped in sealing and cutting down external noise compared to other similar headphones.
While listening to music with the T5 3rd Gen, we didn’t hear any external noise like birds chirping or even the wind. However, we were able to hear cars and other loud noises, but this isn’t something we’d complain about. That’s because the head doesn’t have active noise cancellation.
In terms of isolation, the Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Gen headphones performed well. In fact, it’s an excellent product for a closed-back model since other headphones of the similar type can’t deliver this performance.
