On our continuous hunt for the best gaming headsets, we came across the HS55. The product is a wireless headset, which we will discuss in our Corsair HS55 Wireless Headset Review.
The headset is a USB-enabled and Bluetooth version of the HS55 Surround and is a pretty straightforward product for gaming. Moreover, Corsair integrated efficient features into the product to ensure quality performance for gaming or even regular tasks.
Technically, the wired and wireless HS55 headsets have plenty of similarities. That means you can expect to enjoy the same build quality, specifications, and performance as the wireless version.
However, are its features enough to justify its price? Does it offer better comfort and sound quality than its competitors? Or is it better to look elsewhere?
Continue reading our Corsair HS55 Wireless Headset Review to learn more about its features, specifications, functions, design, and performance. But before we look deeper into those, let us discuss its packaging and the accessories Corsair included.
Corsair HS55 Wireless Headset Packaging
Our headset shipped in a typical Corsair-looking cardboard box, which is thick enough to protect the items inside. The front of the package displays an image of the HS55 Wireless, its name, and company branding.
Flipping the box, its rear features more information about the product. Aside from these, you will also find additional product images displayed from different angles.
This time, let us talk about the package contents and inclusions. Other than the HS55 Wireless Headset, you will find extra accessories inside the box. These include a USB wireless transmitter, a 1.8m USB charging cable, and a warranty card.
Corsair HS55 Wireless Headset Review – Design and Functionality
Design-wise, the HS55 Wireless takes the exterior and style of its predecessor. So, we will discuss these details in our Corsair HS55 Wireless Headset Review.
Corsair retained most of the features of its predecessor. And from there, the company upgraded the original headset and integrated a more optimised interior.
Almost the entire body of this product consists of plastic. Fortunately, it has a metal headband for added durability.
Rest assured that Corsair applied adequate comfort on this headset by adding pleather on some parts. Specifically, you will find the material on its headband and ear cups. In addition, the company included a softer movable plastic for its boom mic for increased comfort.
Both ear cups can swivel to lay flat, so these do an excellent job of perfectly conforming to your head. However, there are times when you might feel lesser pressure below your ear and more of it above your ear.
Unlike its wired sibling, the headset has additional controls, including Bluetooth and USB connections. In addition, its left ear cup houses the mic mute button and a volume slider, which looks like a mouse wheel.
The right ear cup houses the power and Bluetooth button. The latter helps you shift between the USB dongle/Bluetooth connection. Its power button also functions as a pause/play and answer calls button that works when the headset is connected.
Let us continue our Corsair HS55 Wireless Headset Review and discuss what it can offer by checking its key features.

Hands-on with the Corsair HS55 Wireless Headset
We tested the headset for our Corsair HS55 Wireless Headset Review and used it for over a week. We will share our experience with the HS55 and discuss how it performed and what we liked/disliked about it.
Audio Quality of the Corsair HS55 Wireless Headset
What we consider the most notable upgrade on this headset is its sonic performance. The headset shares numerous similarities with the HS55 Wireless Core since both slightly compress when the volume reaches over 50. Another aspect we love about the HS55 Wireless is it adequately corrects some of the flaws of its predecessor.
We put the headset through a gaming audio test, and its high-end is more present and detailed than others. Thus, we enjoyed crisper, more vibrant, and cleaner sound while gaming.
Its mid-range is similar to the Wireless Core since it is somewhat recessed, offering a clean and slightly thin sound. However, it was not overly recessed to make the audio sound hollowed or as if it needed something.
The low end that the HS55 Wireless delivers is less solid than its predecessor. As a result, explosions and other sounds need more rumble. However, we are not complaining since Dolby Audio 7.1 virtual surround sound makes up for it.
With Dolby Audio, the HS55 Wireless has a more expansive and higher three-dimensional soundstage, making the sound more realistic. Surround sound also increases the brightness but retains precise imaging.
The overall audio quality of this headset is good. It will not meet the standards of audiophiles, but it works well for music and gaming.
We loved the enhancement offered by Dolby Audio 7.1 virtual surround sound, which made games more immersive. Plus, the customisable EQ was handy when we wanted to fine-tune the audio for specific tracks.
