Today we will discuss one of the latest FPS wireless mice in our Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse Review.
The M65 RGB Ultra Wireless is a new version of the earlier M65, which has a heavy, right-handed form.
This mouse is ideal for all grip types and hand sizes. Plus, you can utilise it via Bluetooth or USB receiver.
It has plenty of notable features while having a great form and grip. But are these enough reasons to go for this wireless mouse? Continue reading our Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse Review to learn more about the product.
Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse Packaging
Our mouse arrived in the standard-looking Corsair package sporting a black and yellow theme. The front displays an image of the mouse, along with its name and company branding. The rear portion of this box shows the main product features and system requirements listed in eight languages.
Inside, you will receive the M65 RGB Ultra Wireless, a USB charging and data cable, plus a wireless USB transceiver. Corsair included optional weights, a quick start guide, a safety leaflet, and a warranty card.
Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse Review – Design and Functionality
While writing our Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse Review, we learned Corsair made some versions of the M65. For the most part, its style and design are the same. The same goes for this M65 RGB Ultra Wireless.
The mouse features a tall and chunky body with a pronounced bulk on its back. This form works for every grip type but is perfect for claw and palm grips.
Like the others, this wireless version has an aluminium frame that gives some heft to the product. Unlike the Elite version, the M65 RGB Ultra Wireless sports a textured surface on both sides.
Like the wired version, this mouse has six removable weights divided into three sections. Corsair did this to give you the internal, external, neither, or both weights.
In addition to moving its weight from 110g to 128g, it has allocated weight to adjust the centre of gravity. 18g does not sound much, but it makes a big difference.
The M65 RGB Ultra Wireless is a heavy mouse, specifically when all its weights are present. There is plenty of room for adjustments, as long as you prefer heavy mice.
Additionally, the mouse can utilise a USB-C connection or link via Bluetooth/included Slipstream dongle. However, remember that iCUE does not interact when the product is connected using Bluetooth.
Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless – Buttons, Sensors, and Switches
The mouse has eight programmable buttons. But aside from its left and right click, there are others. These include forward/back thumb buttons, up/down DPI adjustments, plus the thumb sniper button ideal for the M65 range.
Its scroll wheel feels precise and complements the well-defined steps. The mouse also has a rubberised, grippy surface, allowing you to scroll better.
For right and left clicks, the company used the Omron optical switches. It is better than the mechanical switches present in most mice.
There are some trivialities with why optical switches are better than the mechanical version. But it all boils down to delay.
Remember that a mechanical switch has some denounce delay. It comes in between when pressing it and when reaching its reset point.
Optical switches do not have this issue since they utilise light, which removes debounce delays. However, the concern is so little most users will not even notice.
Six-axis Gyro
The M65 RGB Ultra Wireless has plenty of elements for you, but these are not immediately visible. It sports a Smart six-axis gyro + accelerometer system that helps lift off distance and gesture-based commands.
You can tilt the mouse side-to-side or raise its front/back off the desk. After, it is possible to activate specific pre-programmed actions. These can include commands like reloading weapons in-game to macros recorded in iCUE.
Key Features of the Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse
What makes this product better than other gaming mice? We will discuss its features in our Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse Review and find out.
Impeccable Design
The M65 RGB Ultra Wireless is a versatile mouse with a tunable weight system. It also has an anodised aluminium frame, offering longevity and durability in its familiar and comfortable shape.
Quick Response Times
The M65 RGB Ultra Wireless delivers ultra-fast response times with optical switches and QUICKSTRIKE technology. This feature gives you a competitive edge and increases your chances of defeating opponents and winning more battles.
Corsair QUICKSTRIKE Buttons
The patent-pending Corsair QUICKSTRIKE buttons offer shorter travel, allowing for quick clicks. These buttons feature a spring-loaded design to eliminate gaps between the primary mouse buttons and the optical switches. As a result, you can enjoy a responsive, fast, and consistent mouse when gaming.
Optical Switches of the Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse
The right and left-click buttons have optical switches to deliver speed and precision and withstand years of rigorous use.
Corsair MARKSMAN Optical Sensor
The MARKSMAN optical sensor offers accurate tracking. Plus, you can adjust its sensitivity by 1 DPI step.
Dual-connectivity
Corsair SLIPSTREAM Wireless offers sub-1ms wireless transmission speeds. With 2000Hz hyper-polling, it delivers clicks and movements two times faster and maintains outstanding signal quality during competition.
Adjustable Design to Find Your Balance
Another feature learned about while writing our Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse Review is its adjustable design.
Since it has six weights, you can adjust the heaviness of the mouse and its centre of gravity. It can be as light as 110g or as heavy as 128g.
Ultra-low Lift-off Distance
The six-axis gyro and accelerometer offer ultra-low lift-off distance, which keeps the cursor steady for aiming at opponents precisely.
Programmable Tilt Gestures
The programmable tilt gestures allow you to map various actions like simple mouse movements, weapon reloads, and other commands.
M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse and iCUE
The M65 RGB Ultra Wireless is an iCUE-compatible product to customise its settings via the Corsair iCUE software. Configure its DPI, macros, button remaps, and others to make it yours.
Specifications
Let us discuss the product specifications in this part of our Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse Review. The mouse has eight programmable buttons and uses the MARKSMAN 26K optical sensor.
It has a 26000 DPI, 1-Zone RGB backlighting, Omron optical mice buttons, and wireless connectivity. The mouse uses a tangle-free rubber cable that is 1.8m long and is ideal for FPS battle royale gaming.
It is slightly heavy, weighing 110g without the cable and accessories. And it has a selectable report rate of 2000Hz|1000Hz|500Hz|250Hz|125Hz.
Its battery life can last up to 90h of continuous use on 2.4GHz SLIPSTREAM. Bluetooth allows the battery to last up to 120h of non-stop usage.
Lastly, Corsair included a 2-year warranty for the product.
Hands-on with the Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse
We used this mouse for over a week to test it for our Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse Review. Here, we will share how it performed to help you decide if the product is worth purchasing.
But before we get into its performance, we will discuss the iCUE Software.
iCUE Software
Corsair iCUE is where you can customise the M65 RGB Ultra Wireless. It has settings for button assignments, macro, RGB lighting, DPI, and many more.
Since the M65 RGB Ultra Wireless only has a single RGB zone, iCUE does not offer many options. Despite that, you can set custom effects or use static lighting.
What caught our attention was the six-axis gyroscope that allows configuring lift-off detection and possible gestures. Forward, left, right, and back tilt gestures are mappable to any key or a macro like a regular button.
Using the Corsair M65 RGB Ultra Wireless Mouse
This product is excellent for FPS gaming since it has low click latency for wired and USB connections. It also has a decreased lift-off distance and wide CPI range, plus a CPI that we could adjust precisely.
Although it does not have many side buttons like dedicated MMO mice, all buttons are programmable. Plus, it has extra tilt inputs that make it suitable for MMO.
During our product tests, we also noticed and felt the well-built solid metal frame of the mouse. It had no significant rattling or wobbling. However, there was minimal wobble on the L/R click buttons.
The mouse also offered satisfying clicks, which improved our overall experience. The anodised aluminium frame felt solid, premium, and durable enough to withstand intense gaming sessions.
