If you want to learn more about this gaming mouse, continue reading our Logitech G502 Hero review. But first, let’s check out the mouse’s packaging and what’s in the box.
Logitech G502 Hero Packaging
This part of our Logitech G502 Hero review is where we talk about the G502 Hero’s packaging and contents.
When we received our gaming mouse, it came in the typical-looking Logitech package. You’ll find the mouse’s name written in bold blue letters on the left corner of the box. To give you an idea of how the headset looks, there’s an image of it on the right.
Logitech, along with its logo, is written below the mouse’s name. The box’s rear features additional information about the device, as well as some of its key features.
Inside, you will find the mouse itself. It’s neatly and securely packed so it won’t move around while inside the box. There aren’t a lot of items inside the box, but you’ll find five 3.6g weights, a case, and manuals.
Also, there’s a 2-year limited hardware warranty included.
Logitech G502 Hero Review – Design & Functionality
This section of our Logitech G502 Hero review talks about the mouse’s design and functionality.
To begin, the Logitech G502 Hero sports a slightly aggressive gamer-centric design. It has a premium look to it because it combines matte and glossy black latex and plastic.
You will also find two RGB zones here: one for the CPI indicator, and the other for the logo.
This gaming mouse’s build quality is excellent. It’s crafted using dense plastic together with latex grips. Its buttons don’t feel loose, which is great to the touch.
For its weight, the G502 Hero can be adjusted by either removing or adding the weights. You can also customise its weight by adding or removing the detachable weight cover.
The thing is, even at its lightest weight, the mouse is still quite heavy.
Key Features of the Logitech G502 Hero
This is the part of our Logitech G502 Hero review that focuses on the mouse’s key features.
Hero 16K Sensor
The Hero 16K Sensor is the most accurate gaming sensor to date. It features next-gen precision combined with ground-up structure and architecture.
With quick and reliable framerate processing, the sensor can handle 400+ IPS across 100-16,000 DPI range. This is possible with zero filtering, smoothing, or acceleration.
The Hero 16K Sensor can manage competition-grade precision, plus highly consistent responsiveness as well. However, always remember to tune and customise your DPI settings via the G Hub software.
Controls at Your Fingertips
With Logitech G HUB, you can set your favourite commands and macros to each of the eleven buttons. You can set buttons for healing, building, crouching, melee, and anything to gain power under your fingertips.
Logitech G HUB lets you save a maximum of five different profiles directly to the mouse. With that, you can take your settings wherever you go.
Tunable Weights
Take advantage of and fine-tune your Logitech G502 Hero to achieve your ideal mouse weight. It comes with 3.6g weights that are all configurable on all sides of the mouse. Experiment with the mouse’s balance and alignment to see which optimisation is perfect for you.
Lightsync RGB
LIGHTSYNC technology is the next-gen RGB that will deliver the most immersive RGB experience. You can choose from 16.8 million colours and synchronise lighting effects and animations with other Logitech G products. With Logitech G HUB, you can customise all of these with ease and convenience.
Game-Ready Details
Aside from the G502 Hero’s core performance and personalisation features, a lot of details were well-designed and engineered. It features mechanical switches, rubberised side grips, magnetic weight-cavity door, and more.
Specifications
This is where our Logitech G502 Hero review talks about the specifications of this gaming mouse from Logitech.
The G502 Hero has a max DPI of 16,000, plus a report rate of 1MS.
It measures 132x 75 x 40mm (H x W x D), and the mouse alone weighs 121g. When you add the weights, it reaches up to 18g in total. For the cable, it measures 2.10m. The maximum weight of the mouse with its wire is 170g, without it is 143g.
This gaming mouse makes use of the Hero sensor and comes with a 100 to 16,000 dpi resolution. It features zero smoothing/filtering/acceleration wherein maximum acceleration is > 40 G2.
For its maximum speed, it reaches > 400 IPS3.
This mouse is responsive where USB data format is 16 bits/axis while the USB report rate is 1,000Hz. Logitech uses a 32-bit ARM microprocessor to make the mouse highly responsive.
The G502 Hero has up to 5 profiles for its on-board memory, plus 1 zone LIGHTSYNC RGB.
Its requirements include Windows 7 or later, macOS 10.11 or later, Chrome OS, and a USB port. An optional requirement is internet access to get the Logitech G HUB software.
The next part of our Logitech G502 Hero review is where we get hands-on with the mouse.
Hands on with the Logitech G502 Hero
Logitech G Hub Software
The Logitech G Hub software is simply amazing. It’s completely compatible with the macOS or Windows while providing you with a multitude of customisation options for the mouse.
Note that the G502 Hero has its own built-in memory that’ll let you save your settings. This aspect allows you to readily keep your settings if you decide to switch to a different PC.
The G Hub lets you create a profile per game or application. Then, it selects which devices you plan to program for it. Moreover, it will let you create sub-profiles for games.
It’s basically ideal for games that let you play in different factions or as multiple characters. Another excellent feature of the Logitech G Hub is that it enables you to share creations with others.
To share keyboards, mice, or headset profiles that you’ve made, simply access the software’s profile selection menu. You can do this via clicking the blue profile name at the top-centre of G Hub.
After, click the Share button beneath the profile that you wish to upload. Logitech will first review then upload it.
Performance
The G502 Hero sports a 1,000Hz polling rate and 1ms response time. It’s an expected feature from a proper and ideal gaming mouse.
We didn’t notice any shortcomings in this department. However, we can definitely say that the Hero sensor is this gaming mouse’s highlight. It also helps make the G502 shine.
The sensor provided us with flawless tracking after using the mouse for a week. It supports DPI ranging from 100 to 16,000, though we find the higher limit quite unimportant.
What greatly mattered to us was how well and quick it responded to hand movements. Plus, it was also extremely consistent, which is something we highly appreciate.
There weren’t any strange mouse movements. It has tracking at maximum speeds of over 400ips, plus accelerations of over 40Gs. Because of these, it’ll be a challenge to push the G502 past its limits.
We played a couple of games using the mouse since. It’s because we wanted to see how it would handle the high precision and split-second reaction time in games. The mouse didn’t let us down the slightest, and we’re glad.
For the customisation software, it was fairly easy to utilise. Plus, it’s highly advisable to use for mice with tons of buttons such as this G502 Hero.
To make the most out of the mouse, you’ll need to have a plan for all its available buttons.
