Pulsar Xlite V2 Wireless Gaming Mouse Review

Today, we’re writing our Pulsar Xlite V2 Wireless Gaming Mouse review which discusses everything about this gaming mouse from Pulsar.

When the very first lightweight gaming mice appeared, these saw immediate success. So, lots of brands attempted to join the hype by releasing their own collection of lightweight mice.

Pulsar is a new brand that joined the trend, and their products have been creating waves among enthusiasts. Their Xlite V2 also gets mentioned a lot in the circle. That’s because it’s an ideal option for people who want ergonomic, lightweight, and wireless mice.

It doesn’t only have a great build and notable features, but it also has a friendly price point. Continue reading our Pulsar Xlite V2 Wireless Gaming Mouse review to find out more about this gaming mouse from Pulsar.

Pulsar Xlite V2 Wireless Gaming Mouse Packaging

We got quite excited upon receiving our package for this Pulsar Xlite V2 Wireless Gaming Mouse review. The Xlite V2 that we have for review is the white version. However, if you aren’t into the colour, you can go for black or red instead.

Since we have the white mouse, our package sported a white theme with the product displayed at the centre front. Above the image is the company’s name while below the image is the mouse’s name.

When we looked at the box’s base, we saw an image of the mouse angled to display its base. Other than those, there’s nothing else left to see, so let’s go ahead and check out what’s inside the box.

When we removed the cover, we got to see the Xlite V2 kept nicely and securely in place. Pulsar decided to leave a slot that perfectly fits the mouse to prevent it from moving about while in transit. Then under the mouse, that’s where you’ll find the USB-C cord kept in its own plastic bag.

Other than these, you’ll also find a wireless receiver adapter and wireless receiver inside the box.

Pulsar Xlite V2 Wireless Gaming Mouse Review – Design and Functionality

Let’s start with its design and functions in this part of our Pulsar Xlite V2 Wireless Gaming Mouse review. The Xlite V2 sports a nice matte coating that’s resistant to oil and fingerprints. So even after long hours of gaming, its body still felt clean and non-sticky which was a huge plus.

Although it’s an ergonomic mouse, the curves feel nice and natural when gripped. We didn’t have to force ourselves to hold it in a certain way which was great. If you think about it, its form is the most copied for a reason – it’s excellent and just that awesome.

Historically, these types of mice haven’t always sported a solid build. But with the Pulsar Xlite V2, it definitely feels strong, solid, and sturdy.

We did hear the scroll wheel slightly when we moved the mouse a tiny bit. Also, there were some light sounds when we picked it up and gave it a shake.

Don’t worry because it’s something that never occurs when using it normally and like usual. Additionally, there’s no shell flex nor creaking on the side or top portion of the mouse.

The bottom plate isn’t that structurally sound. That means, it’ll flex a bit if you add enough pressure on some parts. However, this will never be an issue since the bottom plate won’t be subject to forceful presses when used normally.

Overall, the build and design quality of this gaming mouse is stellar for a product this light.

PTFE Feet for Smooth Movement

Out of the box, the Xlite V2 sports the default PTFE feet. These aren’t the fastest skates around, but they’re quite decent for us and we didn’t have issues with them. There were no scratches on the mousepads we tried the mouse on so that’s definitely a good thing for us.

Though if you prefer fast gliding, you can just use the company’s Superglides which are sold separately. Each micro-maneuver that you’ll make will be detected by the sensor when you utilise Superglides.

Unique Design and Changes Between V1 and V2

One of the most notable differences between the two mice are the holes on the side. The V2 doesn’t have them since lots of people disliked feeling their fingers gripping on the holes. Removing the holes in these areas is a really good move by the company.

Speaking of holes, you won’t find the classic hexagonal holes on this mouse. Instead, you’ll find thin strips that were cut along the shell. Another smart move here since it differentiates the Xlite V2 from other similar products out on the market.

Another element that’s unique to the Xlite V2 is its bottom section. You usually see this area sporting honeycomb plates, but instead, the whole section of its bottom plate was cut off.

You’re probably thinking that the mouse is one frail pointer device, but it’s far from that. Its construction is great, and the Xlite V2 has an overall excellent build as well.

Switches and Scroll Wheel of the Pulsar Xlite V2 Wireless Gaming Mouse

The Xlite V2 makes use of the Kailh GM 8.0 switches which have become a huge favourite among enthusiasts. This is the reason why you can find these in a lot of mice these days.

We aren’t really that wild or excited about these. However, we definitely understand the appeal: reliable, crispy, and lasts a long time. Plus, the switches provide a nice, tactile, and loud actuation.

The company also shifted the scroll wheel a bit higher compared to the earlier version. It’s even a bit more textured and elevated adequately which is great. So, reaching and utilising it in the heat of a battle won’t be a problem at all.

Superflex Paracord Cable

As mentioned earlier, the Xlite V2 comes with a USB-C cable in the package. It’s called the Superflex Paracord – a thin and flexible cable you can use for gaming without issues. So if you want completely responsive and lag-free operation, it’s highly recommended to use this cable when gaming.

What’s cool about this cable is it matches the mouse’s colour, so we also got a white one. If you’re getting the red or black versions of the Xlite V2, you’ll also get a matching cable for it. We appreciate this attention to detail since it made the whole package look more premium.

Specifications

Before discussing the performance of this mouse, our Pulsar Xlite V2 Wireless Gaming Mouse review will tackle its specifications. It measures 42 x 66.17 x 122.66mm (L x W x H), and weighs 2.08oz. The mouse uses a 3370 optical sensor with 50 to 20,000 DPI.

The Xlite has 400 IPS with 50g acceleration, while its polling rate is 125|250|500|1,000 Hz. It sports an ergonomic right-hand design, has 5-button configuration, and is extremely lightweight.

We love that the mouse has a fully-customisable sensor setting which also goes for its keys and macros. It has a lag-free wireless technology and it uses the Kailh GM 8.0 switches.

To use it, you’ll need a free USB port on your computer or laptop that uses Windows, Linux, or Mac. You’ll also need to have a good internet connection for downloading the software.

Hands-on with the Pulsar Xlite V2 Wireless Gaming Mouse

We tested the product to see how well it performed. So, we’re sharing our experience with it here in our Pulsar Xlite V2 Wireless Gaming Mouse review. But before talking about the product’s performance, we’ll discuss Pulsar’s optional software.

Pulsar has an optional unnamed software for the Xlite V2. Although the mouse has a plug-and-play design, downloading the software is necessary if you want to customise it further.

Through the interface, we were able to adjust and customise various settings of the Xlite V2. These included DPI levels, mouse sensitivity, scrolling speed, lift-off distance, double-click speed, USB polling rate, and the RGB effects. We were also able to create macros and remap buttons.

The software wasn’t flashy nor expansive, but it had the necessary options and was easy to use. When we installed this, it only took minimal storage space and it also worked smoothly which is good.

To test the Xlite V2, we played several games and from there, we noticed its seamless operation. The PAW3370 sensor didn’t malfunction and its wireless performance was flawless.

To our surprise, we didn’t notice any latency even while playing FPS and other games that required quick movements. In some instances, the mouse’s response was slightly slow after a short period of inactivity. But these only happened when the dongle was a bit far from the mouse.

Once we had the mouse moving, we didn’t experience any issues with it. For best performance, we highly recommend using the included extender. This will allow you to place the receiver as close as possible to the mouse.

While using the mouse, we also didn’t have accidental wheel clicks and scrolls. Thanks to its excellent design and construction, we were able to use it comfortably and with no issues.
