Roccat Syn Pro Air Headset Review – Design and Functionality
Let us discuss the design and functions of the headset in our Roccat Syn Pro Air Headset Review.
After unboxing, the Syn Pro Air does not immediately grab your attention as other headsets do. It sports a black-on-black design that is common in quality headsets today.
Weight-wise, the Syn Pro Air weighs 296g. It is not the lightest nor the heaviest headset we tested. However, it weighs adequately and will not cause any discomfort no matter how long you wear it.
The headband uses a single piece of plastic with a foam cushion inside a breathable mesh fabric. Although the headband has some flexibility, this type of design slightly clamps on the lower portion of the earcups, particularly if you have a big head.
The ear cups are connected to the headband by sturdy plastic posts mounted on a track. The arms where the ear cups attach enable them to rotate horizontally and vertically. They can turn far enough to allow the headset to rest flat on your desk.
Each ear cup contains memory foam wrapped with additional mesh fabric. The material does a decent job providing a comfy feel despite the stiff foam.
Combined with its lightweight construction, the Syn Pro Air makes an outstanding gaming partner.
A power button, USB-C connector, a volume wheel, and a rubber stopper covering are all located on the left earcup. Unplug the microphone and snap it in to attach it.
Although the boom arm of the microphone is flexible, it can only move in and out. Only two positions are available for the arm to lock into: down and upright. Because of this, we could not place the microphone in front of our mouths.
The microphone is missing a mute button and an LED that indicates whether or not you are recording. You can mute it, but you will need to position it upright.
Also, the right ear cup has a volume wheel for adjusting the mic monitoring volume.
Let us discuss the functionality and compatibility of the product in our Roccat Syn Pro Air Headset Review. The Syn Air Pro works via 2.4GHz wireless via a USB 2.0 dongle and Bluetooth. It is compatible with a PC, a docked Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5.
Its wired connectivity uses USB-C, but it is only for charging.
Roccat claims the Syn Pro Air offers a 24-hour battery life when fully charged, which takes only an hour.
The RGB lighting brightens up its black-on-black colour scheme with its honeycomb pattern.
Key Features of the Roccat Syn Pro Air Headset
We will discuss the product features in our Roccat Syn Pro Air Headset Review. Here, we will let you know more about its unique elements and how these function to deliver better sound quality.
Immersive and Three-dimensional
The Syn Pro Air features 3D audio for immersion beyond conventional sound. With this headset, you can receive sounds from all directions.
The headset uses 50mm Nanoclear drivers from Turtle Beach to place you at the centre of your game. With enhanced immersion, you can gain a competitive advantage.
SuperHuman Hearing for a Performance Boost
Turtle Beach tested the SuperHuman Hearing sound setting on over a hundred gamers, which proves that it boosts performance. Essential nuances like the footsteps of opponents and weapon reloads are more audible with this technology.
This technology makes subtle sounds audible, which significantly enhances your audio. It increases your chance to live longer and win more in-game.
Excellent Wireless Technology
Although the Syn Pro Air is a wireless headset, you can still enjoy the speed and reliability of wired connectivity.
It also has a 24-hour battery life, so you can enjoy around a week of gaming without charging. But remember that power consumption will always depend on how long you play. Plus, its USB-C connection allows for fast charging, so you can quickly go back into action.
Unparalleled Construction of the Roccat Syn Pro Air Headset
Roccat used advanced materials to construct the Syn Pro Air. As a result, it has an impressive robust build despite being lightweight.
With ProSpecs ear pads, this headset is glasses-friendly. It also has a perfect-fit headband with memory foam to ensure comfort for all users. The headset also has a breathable fabric that eliminates moisture.
Versatility and Ease of Use
Roccat provides users with convenience by including intuitive on-ear controls for easy audio adjustment. The Quantum 810 also features the TruSpeak flip-to-mute microphone and lay-flat yokes, offering versatility to gamers and streamers who travel.
AIMO Lighting
The AIMO ecosystem enables up to 16.8 million colours to light up the Syn Pro Air. You can also sync its lighting with other AIMO-compatible devices without complex configuration.
Specifications
We will share the product specifications in this Roccat Syn Pro Air Headset Review.
The headset has a direct wireless connection using a USB-A transmitter with a 2.4GHz frequency response. This product comes with a 24h rechargeable battery and a unidirectional detachable mic.
It has a speaker frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz and 50mm speakers with neodymium magnets. Plus, it weighs 390g which makes it lightweight.
The Syn Air Pro works with PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Android devices. To use the Roccat Neon Software, you will need Windows 10 or 11.
Hands-on with the Roccat Syn Pro Air Headset
We will discuss product performance in our Roccat Syn Pro Air Headset Review. Knowing how it performs will help determine if it is efficient enough for your needs.
But before that, we will check out what is on Neon, the new software suite from Roccat.
The Roccat Neon programme currently works with Windows 10 and 11 computers only and supports the Syn Pro Air headset. The essential capabilities, such as superhuman hearing, 10-band EQ, and 3D audio, are deactivated by default. Thus, you need to download the Neon software.
Superhuman hearing is an additional EQ option that increases upper notes. It lets you pick up even the most subtle audio clues.
There are menus for managing LED complements of the headset, plus it also lets you set custom EQ profiles. It displays everything neatly, so you do not need to hunt for tweaks and the like.
Once we finished configuring the settings, we proceeded to test the headset.
Connecting the Syn Air Pro and the dongle took 20-30 seconds. But once paired, it delivered reliable audio and stable connectivity. Also, we could go as far as 3m away from the connected device before it stuttered and disconnected.
It stayed connected whether we used it on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, or PS5.
The audio of the Syn Pro Air was clear, clean, smooth and balanced, allowing for easy listening. Also, the details were highly accurate for a gaming headset.
With this headset, it was easy to determine the difference between a bullet whizzing and pinging off a metal wall. When we activated the Superhuman Hearing feature, soft sounds like footsteps were more audible.
The Syn Pro Air microphone was excellent for conversation. It was easy to position so everyone could hear us, even with limited articulation. However, it also picked up a lot of background noise and did not have noise-cancelling features.
