The Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max is the latest product from Turtle Beach. So, we will feature and focus on the headset in our Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max Review.
Turtle Beach frequently releases high-quality, budget-friendly gaming headsets. And in the wired category, its Stealth series is one to look out for on the market.
Recently, the company returned with a modest-looking headset with some enhancements and significant changes.
The Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX has a long name. However, it is one of the first wireless gaming headsets supporting both Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Aside from this aspect, it also comes with plenty of notable features.
But is the headset worth purchasing? Is it enough for your needs? Find out in our Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max Review.
Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max Packaging
The headset arrived in a white-coloured box with hints of green on it. And like your usual product packaging, you will see the headset in front, its name, and the company branding. Details related to the product are present on the package, which you can refer to for quick information.
Inside, you will find the Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max, a USB transmitter, and a USB-C charging cable. Additionally, Turtle Beach included a quick start guide and a company sticker.
Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max Review – Design and Functionality
Let us continue our Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max Review and focus on its design and functions. Because of its build and design, using the headset is straightforward.
The Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max works with the Audio Hub from the company. However, the app only offers access to firmware updates. It would be better if the application had additional features for customisations and the like.
Aside from its straightforward style, the headset has a design like the Stealth 600 Wireless. You cannot detach the boom mic, but it is flippable upwards for a more casual look.
This product comes in various colours, but we opted for the Camo version. You can go for Black or Midnight Red if you prefer something else.
Using the headset provides comfort since it is lightweight, while its headband and ear cups are well-padded. Also, the cups clamp more along the bottom of your ear; nevertheless, it is still comfortable to wear.
Its body consists of plastic, but it feels solid and sturdy. The removable ear pads are wrapped in cloth, while the headband has a faux leather cover.
The controls and connectivity of the headset are vital. So, we are discussing these too in our Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max Review.
The left headphone of the Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max features a dial for the volume. It also has a dial for the microphone sidetone/monitoring volume. Remember that it is not a mic gain dial and is only for adjusting sidetones.
You will also find a mode button to cycle between the four EQ presets. These are Bass Boost, Sound Signature, Bass+Treble Boost, and Vocal Boost.
Aside from the presets, you will find a power button. You can tap it to switch on the Superhuman Hearing feature. The latter provides a competitive advantage to drain out bass response.
For its connectivity, it can connect to your preferred gaming platform using its 2.4GHz USB-A wireless dongle. Interestingly, this dongle has a switch on the side that lets you alternate between USB and Xbox modes. This feature makes the headset work with other devices supporting USB audio.

Next-gen Flip-to-Mute Microphone
We are also discussing the second-generation flip-to-mute microphone in our Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max Review.
Turtle Beach improves voice chat with its high-sensitivity microphone, which offers voice accuracy. It enhances chat clarity and integrates into the headset design when you flip and mute it.
Glasses-friendly Design
With the exclusive patented ProSpecs glasses release system, you can wear your glasses freely while using the headset. It features dual-foam ear cushions with softer foam on the part that rests against your glasses to alleviate pressure.
Easily Access Audio Presets
A touch of a button lets you toggle from four signature Turtle Beach audio presets. Choose from Signature Sound, Bass Boost, Vocal Boost, or Treble Boost.
Mic Monitoring
The integrated mic monitoring feature lets you hear your voice through the headset when you talk. Flipping to USB mode allows you to adjust the mic monitoring volume levels.
Game and Chat Volume Control of the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max
In Xbox mode, you can control the game and chat audio volume separately and balance it based on your preferences.
Built to Last
The sturdy headband and hinge ensure that the Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max is adequately durable for long-term use.
Specifications
Continuing our Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max Review, we will discuss the different specifications of the headset.
The Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max allows for a wireless connection, and you can connect to the Xbox Series X. Aside from the latter, you can also link via Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, and the Xbox One S.
Of course, PlayStation connections are also available, and you can connect to the PS5, PS4, PS4 Slim, and PS4 Pro. Other compatible platforms include your PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch.
Turtle Beach uses 50mm speakers with neodymium magnets and a closed over-ear cup design for the headset. For its ear cushion, the company utilises quality materials with foam cushioning.
Aside from these, it has a 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response, while its mic is a flip-up omnidirectional type. And lastly, the headset uses a rechargeable lithium polymer battery.
Hands-on with the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max
We used the headset for a week and tested it to see how well the product would work. So, we will share our experience with it in this Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max Review.
Testing on an Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PC proceeded adequately. The audio settings between platforms only needed a bit of tweaking, and both voice chat and the game worked well.
In competitive games like Call of Duty: Warzone, our teammates remarked that they successfully heard us. Plus, the microphone quality was ideal for these applications.
Its audio had a balanced mix, while its virtual surround sound was clean. It helped us discern enemy positions during multiplayer gaming. The Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max also sports a neutral sound profile ideal for varying audio content.
However, it lacked low bass, so action-filled scenes did not have enough punch and power. Its sound delivery was inconsistent, so the audio it produces may not sound the same for everyone. Luckily, we could customise its sounds via the four EQ presets.
Despite our minor concerns, its sound profile was still good.
Also, the Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max has good mid-accuracy. It also has a well-balanced range, thus, making lead instruments and vocals sound clear.
Finally, the headset offers good treble accuracy with an even and well-balanced response. That means we received present and detailed vocals and sibilants, which was great.
Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max Review Summary
The Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max offers cross-platform versatility, exceptional sound quality, and long battery life. With all these features, this product has become one of the most appealing headsets in the low to mid-range market.
