ASUS ROG Strix B760-A Gaming Wifi D4 Motherboard Review – Design and Functionality

The ROG Strix B760-A Gaming Wifi D4 has a white, steel colour across its heatsinks. We appreciate its lighter touch, which is a refreshing approach compared to what you commonly see on the market.

Its integrated IO shield and heatsinks sport the usual ROG Strix logo. We noticed the latter while writing our ASUS ROG Strix B760-A Gaming Wifi D4 Motherboard Review. Plus, it also features the AURA system.

However, it is worth noting that its RGB backlights are limited to one heatsink that covers the power supply stages. The card also features three ARGB and one RGB connector on its PCB.

The motherboard has three radiators; two are on top of the product, helping conceal the power supply stage. The radiators are independent, so heat pipes do not link them.

The third radiator conceals the chipset and features a large surface. However, it has a low height to slip the graphics cards easily.

The area surrounding the socket is notably unobstructed. The setup is promising as it reveals the mounting holes for the LGA-1700 and LGA-1200 sockets.

This motherboard can house up to four DDR4 memory modules. It can support dual-channel memory kits that can handle up to 5333MHz (OC), accommodating 128GB.

Our motherboard has a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. It also features two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots.

The card integrates a 24-pin connector and an 8-pin + 4-pin configuration to boost the slots. It is situated adjacent to the power supply stages.

Consistently, the Q-Release button is a notable feature. Upon inserting a card into the primary PCIe slot, pressing this button initiates the release mechanism. The latter lets you seamlessly remove a graphics card.

This layout addresses a previous concern observed in the prior generation of motherboards. Specifically, it is when a heatsink is near the initial PCIe slot.

We noticed the SSD slots of the product while writing our ASUS ROG Strix B760-A Gaming Wifi D4 Motherboard Review. Its PCB features three M.2 SSD slots with two aluminium plates covering them, offering adequate room for storage. The first slot is 22110, while the others are 2280, and both are in PCIe 4.0 x4.

Each aluminium plate features a thermal pad for optimising heat dissipation from the SSD. It also has a protective plastic film, which you should not forget to remove before installing your SSD.

ASUS added the quick-release system for SSDs on this motherboard. With this button, you will not need to fasten it with a screw. All you need to do is rotate the latch to secure the SSD.

The rear I/O of the Strix B760-A Gaming Wifi D4 offers many connections. It has a 2.5G LAN, five high-speed ports, an integrated Wifi 6E module, DisplayPort, HDMI, and nine USB ports. Plus, you will find five audio jacks and the BIOS Flashback button.

The plethora of I/O options is perfect for various consumers.

Hands-on with the ASUS ROG Strix B760-A Gaming Wifi D4 Motherboard

This section is all about our hands-on experience with the product. We will discuss the BIOS, Armoury Crate, and how well our system performed with this motherboard.

The BIOS opens at EZ Mode, which does not have significant changes between generations. It has the same layout and features; only the colour scheme has changed. The BIOS of this motherboard features a red and black theme with ROG aesthetics.

The welcome screen shows an overview of your components and their settings. You will find everything on a single slide, logically divided into segments.

The top-left portion shows the BIOS version, the installed processor and temperature, and the connected memory or storage. Here, you will also find a button that quickly enables XMP.

Other data, like speeds and occupied/vacant connectors, are below. Plus, this area offers the option to switch to the Q-Fan Control. This interface has more details, which are ideal for tweaking.

The right side of the screen shows the ReSize BAR on the top navigation, which is activated by default.

Aside from EZ Mode, we also tested Advanced Mode for our ASUS ROG Strix B760-A Gaming Wifi D4 Motherboard Review. It is the more complex side of the BIOS, with more settings for experienced users.

You can access Advanced Mode by pressing the F7 button on your keyboard. ASUS Performance Enhancement is one of the first options on the Ai Tweaker tab. Switching on this feature will increase the power limit of the motherboard and allow you to set a temperature limit.

With ASUS Performance Enhancement, the achieved clock speed will depend on the cooling intensity or CPU temperature.

ROG Armoury Crate

ROG Armoury Crate is a staple for every ASUS motherboard. This software has various features, including a benchmark tool, RGB control, fan configuration, and stress test software. All these are optional but can help you maximise the features of the Strix B760-A Gaming Wifi D4.

The fan configuration tool has AI-based fan-acoustic tuning, allowing you to save time from adjusting fan curves constantly.

You can download tools, user manuals, and drivers when accessing Armoury Crate. Also, you can register products and tap into a news feed to interact with the global ASUS gaming community.
