The SXFI Air Gamer wireless gaming headset that we got is the black-coloured one. It arrived in a nice blue cardboard box with a few hints of gold.

Of course, there’s an image of the product at the centre, while its name is written on the top-left corner. The opposite corner displays “Creative”.

Flipping the box, you’ll find more information and details about the product. Plus, you’ll see another image of the headset that shows a different angle. Parts of the product are being described thoroughly to give us a better understanding of their functions.

Flipping open the box, you’ll find a starter pack under the top cover. It’s there to help you set up its mobile application.

Do note that it’s an important inclusion of the package. It’s because you’ll be needing a smartphone for the initial setup of the product. Under this is the headset itself, which is fully protected with a plastic mould to keep it from moving around.

There’s another box inside the package, and it houses the headset’s microphone, audio and charging cables as well. Creative surely gives us everything we need to start setting up the product.

Other than these, there’s nothing else left inside the box. So, let’s move on to another part of our Creative SXFI Air Gamer Wireless Gaming Headset review.

Creative SXFI Air Gamer Wireless Gaming Headset Review – Design and Functionality

When we first got our headset out of the box, we loved its sleek and clean black colour. Our first impressions are really good with this product since it has a premium look and feel to it.

The SXFI Air Gamer wireless gaming headset’s leather ear cups are huge, and they come with memory foam cushions. The ear cups offer the best of two worlds where you can enjoy passive noise-cancellation with excellent breathability. But what’s important is how comfortable the paddings are, thus, making the headset easy to wear even during long hours.

The exterior of this SXFI Air Gamer wireless gaming headset is quite interesting. It comes with RGB light rings around the ear cups’ outer edge which can be tweaked via the software. Plus, you get a microSD port as an extra option for music files and a 3.5mm jack for wired connection.

When we first wore the headset, the first thing we noticed was its sheer comfort. And with its design, you won’t only get a satisfying clamping force, but also an excellent fit over your ears.

We tried wearing it for hours for this Creative SXFI Air Gamer Wireless Gaming Headset review. All we can say is that it’s 100% extremely comfortable so you won’t have issues using it during non-stop gaming.

All the controls for this headset are found on the left ear cup. There’s a toggle button for swapping sources, a power button, and the button that allows audio enhancements.

We love how these controls are ideally spread out enough from each other. So, you won’t accidentally activate the wrong switch especially when you learn its placements.

You can readily control the audio playback and volume through the touch surface on the outer left ear cup. Simply swipe up/down for volume adjustments or left/right to skip your audio tracks. Tap the pad for pause playback or end/answer calls.

Its touch controls are highly responsive, and we didn’t experience issues with accidental touches while adjusting the headset.

When it comes to the microphone, the SXFI Air Gamer wireless gaming headset has two detachable microphones. One is a short one, while the other is a Commander Mic which is an extended boom-type.

Both are great and they offer some of the best quality sounds we’ve experienced for a headset. However, the Commander Mic is a bit better since it provides a bit of noise suppression.

Key Features of the Creative SXFI Air Gamer Wireless Gaming Headset

Now, our Creative SXFI Air Gamer Wireless Gaming Headset review will share the different features of the headset with you.

Super X-Fi

Super X-Fu delivers high-quality holographic audio within the SXFI Air Gamer wireless gaming headset. It creates a customised audio profile based on your ear and head’s anthropometry. With that, you’ll enjoy the most personally optimised sounds.

Dual Connectivity

The SXFI Air Gamer wireless gaming headset is the most versatile Super X-Fi headphones. It combines USB and Bluetooth connectivity so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

SXFI Battle Mode

SXFI Battle Mode is a new audio mode that offers the best audio projection. With the hyper-realistic audio, this feature lets you hear faint sounds like enemies reloading their guns or their footsteps.

CommanderMic with InPerson Mic Technology

CommanderMic provides you with outstanding clarity like that of professional microphones, thanks to its acoustic design and built-in pop filter.

The microphone’s clarity is further enhanced with the SXFI InPerson Mic Technology. This feature boosts its capabilities by identifying human voice and ambient noise. It also works by focusing on suppressing the latter while enhancing audible speech.

Gamerchat

Gamerchat is a feature that allows you to chat with friends even on platforms that don’t allow chatting while gaming. Connect the headset to your mobile phone’s chat app like Discord via Bluetooth while staying connected to your gaming platform.

Durable Construction

The SXFI Air Gamer wireless gaming headset is meticulously engineered and crafted to deliver durability. Its cable is made of Kevlar-reinforced copper shield and its rubber braid offers flexibility and noise reduction. Plus, it can manage high bandwidth and drive the headset to its highest audio potential.

Hands-on with the Creative SXFI Air Gamer Wireless Gaming Headset

Software: SXFI App

The SXFI app is available for free on Android and iOS, and the software is also available on Windows. This application is where you scan your head and ears to create a custom holographic sound profile.

Creative uses computational audio to customise the output based on your ear and head shape. All you have to do is take photos of your face from different directions.

Through the SXFI App, you can also switch between stereo, 5.1, and 7.1 surround sound.

Audio Quality of the Creative SXFI Air Gamer Wireless Headset

We were a bit sceptical of how much of a difference the ear and head mapping technology makes. So, we first tested this product without going through that method.

Out of the box, the sound was on par with similar products in the price range. Everything was crystal clear no matter if we played music, games, or talked on the phone. It sounded perfectly clean and crisp without having to blast its volume.

We need to see how much of a difference the profile made to the sound quality. So, we tested it for our Creative SXFI Air Gamer Wireless Gaming Headset review to give you real-time results.

We first listened to some classical tunes without the profile loaded. Afterwards, we tried listening to music with the profile on. But even without it, the sound quality it delivered was excellent and had depth we don’t usually find in headsets.

When we loaded the profile, it felt as if we were listening to music in a concert hall, And, it was like hearing a live performance which was pretty cool.

As expected, this great sound quality was evident while we played games as well. But it was even more prominent when we juggled multiple inputs.

Usually, we need to tinker with the volume levels of different sources to let us hear everything we want to. But with the SXFI Air Gamer wireless gaming headset, we barely had to tweak anything and we really liked that.

Between game sounds and voice chats, both sounded distinct and unique than when listening to music on the phone.

Creative SXFI Air Gamer Wireless Gaming Headset Review Summary

The SXFI Air Gamer wireless gaming headset from Creative is one of the best headsets at its price point. In fact, its audio quality is just as good as some expensive headsets, but without noise-cancelling features.

It’s an impressive wireless gaming headset that has a lot of unique features like Gamerchat and CommanderMic. In our tests, the headset performed excellently and we didn’t have issues with it. The SXFI app and creating a custom profile were also straightforward and we didn’t have a hard time with these.

Overall, the Creative SXFI Air Gamer wireless gaming headset is a solid choice that we highly recommend. If you want to purchase this product, it’s available from the company’s official website.
