The Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max is the ultimate refresh of one of the most notable headsets. And today, we will discuss everything about it in our Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max Review.
It is slightly more expensive, but that extra $50 goes a long way. The headset offers the same punchy sounds, has double the battery life, a new colour option, and more. Most importantly, it wirelessly links to every gaming console.
So no more choosing between its PS or Xbox version like its sibling, the Stealth 700 Gen 2.
Before checking if the product is as good as claimed, let us check the package and contents.
Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max Packaging
Our package shipped in a durable-looking container that helps protect the product inside. It arrived on time for our Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max Review, so we started unboxing immediately.
Inside, you will find the headset with other inclusions. These are the USB transmitter, USB-C charging cable, a quick start guide, and the Turtle Beach sticker.
Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max Review – Design and Functionality
We have the dark blue headset for this Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max Review, which features bronze accents. But you can choose the original black colour if blue is not your thing. These are not the classic colour combination, but these shades still work and look good on the product.
We love how the bronze accents pop and shine without being too flashy. The accents also coat the adjustable steel headband. So if you make further adjustments, expect to see more bronze.
This product is unassuming compared to other RGB-covered headsets. It also features a simple plastic finish on its exterior, with a sturdy metal headband with adequate padding.
Its ear cups feature comfy pleather paddings, which only get warm after using them for two hours. The padding is not too hot, so it is comfortable to wear even for hours.
Materials-wise, everything felt nice, and the quality was excellent, which is fitting for its price tag. Plus, it was not overly heavy and weighed around 454g.
This part of our Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max Review will discuss the control buttons of the product.
It has an ideal number of controls resting on the rear portion of its left ear cup.
These include the sidetone knob, volume knob, mode button, power button, and Bluetooth pairing button.
These are helpful controls, though having all of these jumbled together makes the layout confusing. Another thing to note is it is easy to accidentally hit the headset controls when removing/wearing the product.
Next to these controls are the power LEDs and charging port.

Hands-on with the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max
Turtle Beach Audio Hub App
The only way to tweak the headset settings is by linking it to your phone. From there, you will boot the dedicated phone app of Turtle Beach. It stops short of EQ controls but still offers numerous features.
We like that you can set your custom balance of treble and bass while adjusting the mic level. It is also possible to tweak the volume of system audio prompts. It is even possible to alter the behaviour of its mode button and volume wheel.
For example, you can set the button to toggle the Superhuman Hearing mode. The latter enhances footsteps and gun sounds which is ideal for competitive shooters.
And lastly, you can set the wheel to customise your mic level instead of the overall volume.
When we tried connecting the headset to our console, it paired directly via Bluetooth. The connection was quick, immediate, consistent, and 100% lag-free.
It was reassuring to know that whenever we have to change consoles, the headset will link without any hassles.
The Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max has the same drivers as the Gen 2. And surprisingly, its audio quality was equally as good. It consistently sounded natural and clear while playing music and gaming.
In some games, the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max nailed ambient and rumbling sounds. Also, swords clashing on armour rang through our heads, and it sounded good.
Other standouts from our play session were the explosions and resounding cracks of rifles firing.
The headset also gave us atmospheric sounds, and everything was excellent. In one of the games, it was hard to resist admiring rain pattering and the buzzing of electric street signs. Also, the thunder rumbling in the distance gave us sounds of vivid realism.
We tried the spatial audio on our PC with games supporting Dolby Atmos, proving that the headset works very well. It gave us 360-degree soundscapes that changed our perspective in some games.
Its flip-to-mute mic is praise-worthy since it is a big timesaver. It prevented us from fumbling for the mute button mid-game.
Based on sound quality, the mic does an excellent job of picking up our voices in a naturally refined manner. Also, it quickly mutes whenever necessary.
We sounded slightly further away, and voices were higher in tone than with a desktop mic. However, this is something expected from microphones in gaming headsets.
Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max Review Summary
Overall, the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max from Turtle Beach was an impressive headset that produced refined sounds. It also had gamer-friendly features and long battery life for continuous gameplay.
Its Bluetooth connectivity was superb, and we seamlessly linked our consoles and devices without hassles.
The product is something we would highly recommend. If you want to learn more about the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max, visit the official website of Turtle Beach.
