ASUS ROG STRIX B760-F Gaming WIFI Motherboard Review – Design and Functionality
While writing our ASUS ROG STRIX B760-F Gaming WIFI Motherboard Review, we noticed how the motherboard layout stays the same. It looks like the previous generation ROG STRIX B660-F. However, you can tell that ASUS made some changes to the design of its heatsink.
Aside from changes to its heatsink, the company also included the Q-release button on the motherboard.
Its EPS 12V headers are still the 4+8-pin set, which only requires the 8-pin to function. Also, there is a total of four DIMM slots on this product.
We always appreciate the debug LED feature since it is another way to determine why the system is not posting. Plus, it is ideal for those unfamiliar with Q-code debug LEDs that are only usually available on high-end, enthusiast-grade motherboards.
For its expansion slots, you will find the PCIe 5.0 x16 slot. In addition, there is a PCIe x4 slot for graphics cards and extra add-in cards. Also, two PCIe x1 slots and the handy Q-Release button are available on this motherboard.
The Q-Release button is an excellent feature. However, you cannot find this feature in earlier STRIX models.
The motherboard can also support up to three M.2 slots, which is enough for most people. The latter is also true if they forego the cable hassles linked to SATA drives in favour of M.2 SSDs.
All SSD slots feature a heatsink to optimise cooling and avoid thermal throttle. It is required if you use an SSD with sequential read/write speeds of 3000MB/s or higher.
The STRIX B760-F sports a 16+1 power stage design based on its official specifications. And these details are correct based on a teamed style.
The motherboard uses an ASP2100 PWM controller, which is a rebranded RT-3628-AE. It also uses an 8+1 phase Richtek PWM controller and Vishay SiC623 MOSFETs rated at 60A each.
On the rear I/O panel, you will find a few USB ports for all your USB needs. In addition, there are clear CMOS and BIOS flashback buttons, HDMI and DisplayPort for integrated graphics. Also, you will find a 2.5GbE LAN, WIFI 6E, S/PDIF, and audio jacks for audio devices.

Hands-on with the ASUS ROG STRIX B760-F Gaming WIFI Motherboard
How well does this motherboard perform? Is it something worth purchasing, or should you look elsewhere? We used the STRIX B760-F for over a week to get a hands-on feel of it in action.
But before we share our experience with the product, let us look into the firmware interface.
ASUS set up the STRIX B760-F with its tried-and-true UEFI BIOS Utility. It includes the EZ and Advanced Mode also present on other motherboard utilities. The EZ Mode allows you to toggle between the most commonly used settings.
The AI Tweaker is where you can experiment with CPU and memory settings. ASUS included its power limit option here to switch between Intel and their own.
Because this is a B760 chipset-based motherboard, only memory overclocking is possible. However, you can still adjust power-related settings for both the CPU and memory.
Advanced is where you can find and configure the chipset options.
We also checked the Monitor section while testing the motherboard for our ASUS ROG STRIX B760-F Gaming WIFI Motherboard Review. It is where the usual voltage and thermal sensors are set.
However, we find something slightly odd. Despite using Windows-based monitoring programs like HWiNFO, its main voltage rail and VRM sensors were undetected.
The Tool section is where you can erase the contents of storage devices. It is also where you can flash BIOS and has features for setting up your system for a clean installation. You will also find a copy of the MemTest86 in this area.
Lastly, the utility has Q-Fan Controls, which allows you to configure six fans each on their five steppings.
ASUS bundled the STRIX B760-F with Armoury Crate, a powerful software suite offering many configuration options. In addition, this dashboard allows overriding configurations from the BIOS.
Armoury Crate offers centralised control of supported gaming products for convenient configuration. A single interface lets you customise the RGB and effects for all compatible connected devices. Plus, you can synchronise its lighting with your entire system.
Aside from RGB configuration, Armoury Crate features Fan Xpert 4, a tool for comprehensive fan control, coolers, and water pumps. It is a more refined version of the Q-Fan Control in the BIOS.
Other Armoury Crate features include AI Noise Cancellation, a downloadable supplement software.
You can use Armoury for downloading other tools, drivers, user manuals, and product registration. It also features a dedicated news feed where you can interact with the global ASUS gaming community.
Armoury Crate has a simple, user-friendly design. Furthermore, we appreciate the implemented updates on the software since it is no longer buggy, unlike its previous versions.
ASUS ROG STRIX B760-F Gaming WIFI Motherboard Review Summary
Like its predecessor with the B660 chipset, the ROG STRIX B760-F is another solid motherboard from ASUS. It has the specifications and features that can make it outshine the Z790 motherboards. Plus, you can use it with K and non-K series processors.
This new motherboard has an excellent specification list, including its 16+1 power phases and 60A MOSFETs/VRMs. We loved the Q-Release button and M.2 Q-Latch, which made building more convenient. Other elements like the PCIe 5.0 and 4.0 slots and Realtek ALC-4080 make this product even better.
We were also pleased with the addition of WIFI 6E on the STRIX B760-F. The absence of this feature on its predecessor was a drawback, and ASUS addressed this issue on the new motherboard. With WIFI 6E, we enjoyed the 6GHz frequency band and stable network connections while gaming and streaming.
Aside from the superb specifications and features, we were impressed with its performance. When testing it for our ASUS ROG STRIX B760-F Gaming WIFI Motherboard Review, it gave us excellent results. To our surprise, no heating issues in our stress tests were present, even without direct airflow.
We highly recommend the STRIX B760-F if you want a capable ATX motherboard with many impressive features.
