Corsair HS80 RGB Wireless Headset Review – Design and Functionality
We’re now looking at the design and functions of the headset in our Corsair HS80 RGB Wireless Headset review. And after getting it out of the box, we can say its design is one of the headset’s best features. If you’re a gamer who prefers a minimalist design approach, the HS80 RGB wireless headset is an ideal choice.
Corsair dropped a couple of elements for this headset, and it only features the essentials. These are the USB-C port, power button on the left ear cup, and a volume wheel.
Its ear cups are entirely bare. However, both of these can easily swivel inwards so you can rest these flat on your chest.
Just remember that the clamping pressure of this headset is quite intense. So, it can be a bit tight when you rest it flat against the chest.
The HS80 RGB wireless headset’s build quality feels very premium. It has strong aluminium frames that don’t creak when flexed. The product is tough and durable, so we expect that it’ll last a long time despite continuous use.
We think that its build quality is the product’s biggest strength. Plus, it’s just as comfortable which makes it even better.
The HS80 RGB wireless headset has a ski-band strap between the cups which are comfortable. Furthermore, it also does the job of holding the headset in place even if you’re moving around while using it.
We loved the material Corsair used for the ear cups since they’re extremely breathable. That means, even if you wear the headset for hours, you won’t feel any form of heat or discomfort.
With the breathable material, solid clamping pressure, and adequate weight, lots of people will surely enjoy using the headset. This is especially true when they wear headsets for long periods, whether it’s for work or gaming.

Hands-on with the Corsair HS80 RGB Wireless Headset
This Corsair HS80 RGB Wireless Headset review won’t be complete if we don’t talk about its performance during our tests. We’ll see if it worked well, and if there were any issues that we came across.
iCUE Software
The iCUE Software is the HS80 RGB’s companion software that recently updated to its 4th version. Thus, offering a cleaner interface for all. For this headset, the software offers the same settings as the Virtuoso Wireless XT.
Through it, you can adjust the equaliser with the 10-band module and switch mic monitoring on or off. Also, you can adjust the RGB LED logo’s colour and brightness on each headphone.
Aside from configuring the audio and RGB settings, iCUE Software provides firmware updates for the headset and dongle. The dongle uses SLIPSTREAM WIRELESS, the technology that lets you pair multiple wireless Corsair products.
Corsair HS80 RGB Wireless Headset Performance
When we used the headset for our tests, we can say that it’s among the nicest-sounding products we’ve used. Its sound quality even surpassed that of the more expensive headsets available, blowing them out of the water entirely.
This is likely because of the 50mm custom neodymium drivers, and the presence of Dolby Atmos. It didn’t matter what genre of music we tried, everything sounded exceptional and we were greatly pleased.
For gaming, it sounded just as great. All blasts and footsteps were heard clearly, and that was also true for in-game conversations. We could hear others perfectly and their words were audible too.
Though we did notice a bit of sound bleeding when we played loud music. However, it wasn’t anything too distracting or alarming so it was still good.
Speaking of its battery life, we were able to use it for 16 hours. And, we were impressed with how efficient iCUE was when it came to informing how much power we still had.
If you ignore the HS80 RGB wireless headset’s attenuated bass output, it has a neutral-based frequency response. This is without increased or decreased emphasis on the mids and highs.
We tried listening to some instrumental pieces and everything sounded splendid. Though we did notice a few instances where sub-bass and low droning sounds were quite difficult to hear.
But despite that, it still produced great sounds and it performed excellently. We didn’t experience any serious issues with it, and we were satisfied with the Corsair HS80 RGB wireless headset.
