Corsair MP600 Pro LPX Review – Design and Functionality

After unboxing the product for this Corsair MP600 Pro LPX Review, we immediately examined its design. It resembles the powerful MP600 Pro XT but has a more compact pre-installed heatsink.

Corsair designed it to fit the storage expansion slot of the PlayStation 5 perfectly. It uses the M.2 2280 form factor, making its dimensions 80mm long and 22mm wide.

The black heatsink of the MP600 Pro LPX has a low-profile design and is sufficient for keeping the drive cool. Its mounting mechanism uses four screws and an ample amount of thermal paste.

We also inspected under the hood for this Corsair MP600 Pro LPX Review. It equips the Phison E18 controller, which the MP600 Pro also uses.

The SSD has upgraded NAND flash chips and the fastest Micron 176-layer 3D TLC. Plus, it has a 2GB DDR DRAM cache from Hynix.

Using the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX

After installing, we immediately used the SSD to share our test results in this Corsair MP600 Pro LPX Review. Upon booting it, the PlayStation 5 prompted us to format the new SSD and test its speed.

The speed test result was 6600MB/s read speed, placing it above the 5500MB/s minimum requirement for the PlayStation 5. This high speed is crucial to meet the same performance levels as the built-in PlayStation 5 SSD.

We loved this SSD for its instant loading capability. It allowed us to install, download, and play various games without lags and delays, which is impossible with HDDs.

This 2TB model offered impressive speeds exceeding the results of other SSDs we tested. Its sequential read and write speeds were 7367MB/s and 6875MB/s. It was faster than the advertised speed and some of the top PlayStation 5 SSDs in our tests.

This SSD also fared well in our random read and write tests, reaching 3025MB/s and 2690MB/s, respectively. These impressive results were the best among the PlayStation 5 SSDs we tested.

The fast sequential and random read/write performances make the drive ideal for transferring massive files. It will also work excellently for general operation as a boot drive.

Aside from using the M600 Pro LPX on the PlayStation 5, we tried it on PC. It also performed fast, thanks to its high-quality components.

This SSD stayed cool throughout our tests, even during long and demanding gaming sessions. Its temperature peaked at 56°C, which was within operational temperatures.
