Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed Review – Design and Functionality

To start our Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed Review, let us focus on its design.

The BlackShark V2 HyperSpeed shares a design language reminiscent of its predecessor, the V2 Pro. However, it optimises comfort with upgraded memory foam cushions and enhanced fabric materials for the earcups and the headband.

With the BlackShark V2 HyperSpeed, you can expect an identical audio experience to its predecessor. It features the same high-quality drivers and the HyperClear Super Wideband microphone.

It is worth noting that these headphones prioritise home gaming setups over portability. The product has a substantial, non-compact design, and the ear cups cannot swivel flat.

Nonetheless, if you will only leave them at home, these considerations become inconsequential.

We put the product to the test for this Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed Review, which we will discuss later. But when we wore it on our heads, it was comfortable with a perfect fit. The cushioning offers a luxurious sensation against your skin, while its ear cups provide a gentle grip on your head.

Remarkably, the BlackShark V2 HyperSpeed is an improvement over its pricier counterpart in certain aspects. It boasts a notably lighter weight at 280g compared to the 320g of the V2 Pro.

You can also conveniently connect the BlackShark V2 HyperSpeed directly to your device. Doing so reduces the need to rely on wireless connectivity.

Controls of the Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed

The product features physical controls that are user-friendly. It offers clicky feedback that lets you determine if the command is registered.

Despite the simple and convenient button configuration, you can still manually execute most functions from wireless headphones. These include the following controls:

  • Volume Control
  • Power
  • Pause and Play
  • Microphone Mute/unmute
  • Bluetooth Pairing

While the volume wheel offers infinite scrolling, it also provides audio cues when approaching minimum and maximum levels. Additionally, you receive voice notifications about your connection type and power status.

However, it is worth noting that there is no audible signal indicating whether the microphone is on mute. On a positive note, the mic button is easily distinguishable when unmuted.

Microphone

A Super Wideband mic is present for this headset, which captures then transmits more detail, unlike other wireless mics. It lets you share your voice in a more uncompressed fashion.

Key Features of the Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed

Headset for the Pros

With all its notable features and excellent design, expect 24/7 comfort during competitive play with the Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed. It is ultra-lightweight, has multi-connectivity, and offers maximum performance, providing clarity and power without compromising your gaming experience.

Razer Hyperclear Super Wideband Microphone

When we tried the product for this Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed Review, we experienced high-definition and professional-level voice quality. Because of its bendable microphone, it covers a broad frequency of audio. Then, it captures and transmits huge numbers of detail in your voice.

That means every call to your teammates will be natural and rich-sounding.

280g Ultra Lightweight

Thanks to its lightweight design, you can wear the Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed all day and game without experiencing fatigue. It also has an optimised clamping force that lets you enjoy seamless comfort during intense gaming.

Triforce Titanium 50mm Drivers for Powerful and Clear Audio

While writing this Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed Review, we learned that its diaphragms are titanium-coated. This feature allows the headset to have more clarity, which is also thanks to the patented design from Razer. It divides the drivers into three sections for solo tuning of mids, highs, and lows.

When these take effect, you can take advantage of incredible clarity levels with your in-game audio.

Noise-isolating Earcups + Comfortable Memory Foam

Thanks to this feature, you can enjoy uninterrupted gameplay and endless comfort. Its closed earcups conform nicely to your head shape, giving you that perfect seal to prevent distractions.

Moreover, the Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed has support from plush padding with breathable material to enhance comfort.

THX Spatial Audio

Thanks to the THX Spatial Audio, you can readily locate positional audio and enjoy true-to-life acoustics to boost in-game awareness.

The THX Game Profiles have customised EQ settings for games such as the following:

  • Apex Legends
  • Rainbow Six Siege
  • Valorant
  • Counterstrike, etc.

Hyperspeed Wireless

You can use low-latency, high-performing competitive gameplay with the Hyperspeed Wireless 2.4 GHz connection.

Bluetooth 5.2

The Blacksark V2 Hyperspeed allows convenient switching between 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth via the SmartSwitch Dual Wireless button. The SmartSwitch Dual Wireless technology allows this headset to work without cables and use two wireless modes. Plus, you can switch seamlessly with the button without manually pairing and unpairing.

USB-A Wired

When the Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed runs out of power, you can use it while charging via the USB cable.

70-hour Battery Life

A single charge of the Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed lets you enjoy 70 hours of use. If you need extra power, a quick 15-minute charge gives you six hours of playtime.

We experienced the capacity of its battery life while testing it for our Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed Review. It could handle continuous gameplay, and it took us days to charge the headset.

Hands-on with the Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed

Like all previous Razer products, the Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed works with Razer Synapse. It is the proprietary software for Razer products, and it provides access to various settings to optimise your devices/peripherals.

When using the Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed, you can launch Razer Synapse to access the 10-band graphic EQ. Plus, it offers presets and game profiles that you can use in specific settings.

In addition, it has settings for vocal clarity, voice gate, and mic sidetone. The software has the THX Spatial Audio Control if you want more immersive sound. Aside from the audio, Razer Synapse has settings for the LED indicators.

The Game EQ is its default setting, so when using it, the headset delivers a distinct and vibrant sound profile. It diverges from the typical gaming audio experience, which we appreciate.

Notably, it lacks substantial bass, rendering exciting gameplay hollow and lacklustre. Meanwhile, dialogue and musical instruments might sound abrasive, and sibilant audio like S and T can be overly sharp.

Fortunately, you can fine-tune the audio using the graphic equaliser and presets from the companion app. These customised EQ settings can be stored on the headset, letting you use them even when console gaming.

The bass precision on this headset is satisfactory. The response in this range is subdued. As a result, game audio may lack thumping, rumbling, and powerful bass.

Fortunately, there is an emphasis on high bass, aiming to introduce warmth and a bit of richness to the audio. It helps counteract the hollow and lacklustre overall sound quality.

However, if you plan to enhance specific in-game audio effects like explosions or footsteps, using the EQ settings is beneficial. Doing so optimises bass response according to preferences.

The mid and treble precision of this product can be considered decent. Despite a slight drop in the mid-treble, both maintain a certain level of overemphasis.

When it comes to scenarios with dialogues and musical instruments, you will notice a somewhat harsh quality. Additionally, sibilant sounds like S and T can sound sharp and piercing.

The microphone of the Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed delivers excellent clarity that keeps voices audible. Although it also captures background noise, it is not loud enough to overpower speech volume.

Its noise handling is good, even in noisy gaming environments. Our voices remain distinct even with some background noise, and our friends can still understand us in voice chats.
