Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless Review

DeathAdder’s history dates all the way back to 2006. And after almost 15 years, Razer finally decides to go wireless with their V2 Pro. Today, we’re checking out this wireless mouse here in our Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless review.

This is the wireless version of the original mouse that’s loaded with Razer’s updated suite of Pro whistles and bells. These include 2.4 connectivity, Bluetooth, as well as support for their wireless charging dock.

It’s an excellent upgrade from their former wired mouse. So if you’re interested to learn more about it, continue reading our Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless review.

Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless Packaging

To start off our review, let’s first look into its packaging and contents. The package appears just like Razer’s typical boxes: black and green theme with an image of the product in front. You’ll find the mouse’s name written here, as well as Razer’s logo.

Its primary features are displayed beneath the image to give you an idea of what the mouse offers.

Inside, you’ll find the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless mouse secure and protected enough to avoid damages while in transit. Aside from the mouse, you’ll find a wireless dongle and extender, charging cable, as well as a quick start guide. It’s also nice that Razer included a carrying bag for the mouse.

To note, the company utilised FSC-certified sustainable packaging for their DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless. You won’t find any non-recyclable materials and plastic on it which is good.

Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless Review – Design and Functionality

To begin our Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless review, we’re discussing the design and functions of this wireless mouse. So if you’ve owned Razer’s mice before, you’ll notice their reuse of DeathAdder’s style since the first model in 2006.

Today, the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless sports the same ergonomic slope where your hand fits perfectly. It’s exceptionally comfortable, especially when you have large hands.

The company decided to keep their micro-USB charging port, though it would’ve been better to see a USB-C port instead. However, it isn’t a big deal since you’ll get a charging cable in the package.

In addition to these, the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless sports PTFE mouse feet. These allow the mouse to seamlessly glide across the surface, providing adequate freedom to the user. Interestingly, not even Razer’s SpeedFlex cable can match it.

When it comes to compatibility, this mouse works with the company’s micro USB-powered RGB charging dock. However, keep in mind that you need to purchase it separately.

Eight Buttons of the Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless

You can find five inputs at the top of the mouse. These are the left-click, right-click, a clickable scroll wheel, plus two DPI cycle buttons along the centre column. On the left section, you’ll see the standard forward and back side buttons.

Lastly, when you flip the mouse, you’ll see a button cycling through its five onboard profiles. Do note that there’s also a detachable panel that displays a space for storing the mouse’s 2.4GHz wireless dongle.

The eight buttons available are customisable, but changing its profile-swapper is, in our opinion, quite a waste. That’s because you won’t get to take advantage of the colour-coded indicator light that’s present.

Razer integrated their 2nd generation optical switches for the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless. These work using light beams unlike the more classic mechanisms. It helps quicken the mouse’s clicks, offering a better competitive advantage than those with mechanical switches.

Connectivity

Like its other counterpart, the Naga Pro, the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless allows you to choose between two connection types. These include Bluetooth or 2.4GHz via USB dongle. The latter is mostly preferred by PC gamers since it’s more stable.

Having Bluetooth as another option adds more utility since it drains less battery and works with more devices like smartphones.

RGB

Aside from only featuring a single lighting zone, the mouse’s backlight is still the classic Razer style. This is in terms of sharpness and brightness which makes it stand out from its competition.

Basically, the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless is ideal for people who want things simple. Plus, it has a zone with the sharpest lighting around, so you won’t really be left in the dark.

This time, let’s look into its key features here in our Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless review.

Key Features of the Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless

Wireless and Ergonomic Design for Freedom

With the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless, Razer removed the cord for their most successful gaming mouse. This wireless ergonomic mouse offers dominance with complete freedom of control and movement.

HyperSpeed Wireless

Razer’s HyperSpeed Wireless technology provides speed that’s 25% faster than any other wireless technology. Its high-speed transmission and low click latency will make you forget that you’re using a wireless gaming mouse. Plus, its frequency switching is seamless even in data-saturated environments.

Optimised Scroll Wheel Tactility

The DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless’ scroll wheel has a notched feel and offers satisfying tactile feedback. Its scroll resistance is also low, making it lighter and easier to use. As a result, cycling through weapons becomes faster than ever.

Razer’s Focus+ Optical Sensor

The Focus+ is Razer’s new and improved sensor with a 20,000 DPI sensitivity and 99.6% resolution accuracy. With that, it guarantees fine movement tracked with consistency. This mouse is also equipped with smart functions that make the sensor more accurate for high precision and game-winning headshots.

2nd Gen Optical Mouse Switch

The mouse’s optical switch is another important feature we should talk about in our Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless review.

Razer equipped the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless with the 2nd gen optical mouse switch that provides greater tactile feedback. It actuates through an infrared light beam to deliver response time as fast as 0.2ms.

Since this actuation form no longer requires regular physical contact, it won’t need debounce delay and won’t trigger unintended clicks. With this optical mouse switch, you’ll have better control and seamless execution.

Long Battery Life

Three connection modes are available for the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless. When using Bluetooth connectivity, the mouse’s battery life lasts up to 120 hours. If you activate HyperSpeed Wireless for low latency, it lasts up to 70 hours.

You can also plug it with the Razer Speedflex cable to continue using it while charging.

Advanced Onboard Memory

Store up to five onboard profiles that you can easily access. With that, you’re ready to compete anywhere.

Razer Mouse Dock Chroma for Charging

The DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless works with Razer’s mouse dock used for the company’s Basilisk Ultimate and Viper Ultimate. This makes the mouse dock an excellent upgrade to your gaming system.

To note, you can purchase the Razer Mouse Dock Chroma separately.

Injection-moulded Rubber Side Grips

The moulded rubber side grips of the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless completely cover its left and right sides. These offer more secure swipes for better execution of in-game actions.

Pure, High-grade PTFE Mouse Feet

This features 100% PTFE mouse feet, allowing slick mouse movement across any surface.

Stable and Highly Reliable

Razer ensured that the HyperSpeed Wireless technology is stable enough to deliver excellent performance even in data-saturated environments. With that, it utilises the new and improved Adaptive Frequency Technology that scans available channels every millisecond for any interference.

By doing this, the technology can determine which frequencies to avoid and switch to the fastest one. As a result, it prevents stuttering or lagging of the wireless connection.

Razer Chroma RGB-powered

Razer Chroma RGB lets you experience complete RGB customisation with its 16.8M colours, countless patterns, and dynamic lighting effects. Chroma RGB offers an immersive lighting ecosystem with its advanced features like Chroma Studio, Connect, Workshop, and Visualiser.

Aside from its features, you also need to know about its specifications. You can read all about that next in our Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless review.

The mouse uses Razer’s HyperSpeed Wireless connection, Bluetooth, and wired Speedflex cable. As for battery life, it can last up to 120 hours which is good.

Hands-on with the Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless

How well did it perform during our tests? Was it just as good as other Razer mice? We’ll share what we’ve experienced with the mouse in this section of our Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless review.

Razer Synapse Software

We first checked out the Synapse Software which is vital for adjusting and customising the mouse based on your preferences.

The latest version of this software is highly customisable. With it, each of the buttons present on the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless can be re-assigned to other functions.

Other tabs under the Synapse Software’s mouse module also allows you to further customise the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless. You can change its polling rate up to 1000Hz or set up to five CPI sensitivity stages. Aside from these, you can also tweak the basic RGB effects and brightness here.

You’re allowed to save up to five customised profiles to the DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless’ onboard memory. It’s possible to switch these any time simply by pressing the profile button located at the bottom of the mouse.

It’s good to note that the profiles can be linked to various games or applications too. With that, the mouse can change automatically once you switch to a different app. Also, the profiles can be synced via the cloud after you’ve signed in using your Razer ID.

Performance of the Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless

The DeathAdder V2 Pro wireless’ programmable buttons were all tactile. They felt firm in every click, while the optical switches delivered a fast response time.

Its 20,000 DPI sensor was highly sensitive, making it perfect for the most intense battles.

We liked its performance when we played FPS games since it was seamless. With the HyperSpeed Wireless technology, it was really faster than other wireless gaming mice that we’ve used. Plus, its PTFE mouse feet and DPI controls made our movements feel slick and accurate.

In terms of connectivity, we didn’t experience any latency issues while using Bluetooth which is another thing we liked. It worked well with precision and excellent response time throughout our tests.

Battery Life

The DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless’ battery life can last up to 120 hours. But of course, that depends on which among the three connectivity options you use and if the RGB is activated.

While creating our Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless review, we learned that Razer claimed that their mouse was tough. They stated that it could last up to 120 hours when using Bluetooth without activating RGB. Yet in our tests, it lasted a few minutes longer than 120 hours, which was great.

When we used the HyperSpeed dongle, the DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless’s battery life lasted around 70 hours. But with the RGB lighting switched on, it lasted 65 hours before needing a charge. To estimate, it lost around 1-2% of battery life per hour.

Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless Review Summary

Razer’s Deathadder is still one of the most popular mice today. And that doesn’t change with the DeathAdder V2 Pro Wireless.

This ergonomic mouse delivers precision, ergonomics, and excellent performance, making it one of the best on the market. Plus, it’s highly customisable via an application with a user-friendly interface.
