Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard Review

Today, we’re sharing our Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard review to give you information on this keyboard from Razer.

In 2020, the company offered us their Huntsman Mini. A 60% keyboard that sports a compact footprint, quality PBT keycaps, and Razer’s optical switches.

Now, Razer is presenting us with a revised and upgraded version of their little keyboard. Called the Mini Analog mechanical keyboard, their latest product appears mostly unchanged with just one exception – the key switches.

The Mini Analog mechanical keyboard sports Razer’s newest Analog Optical Switches. With this, each press will allow scaling levels of input which offers more accurate presses and smoother movement.

Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard Packaging

Before we focus on the keyboard’s design, specs, features, and performance, let’s check out its packaging first. We got really excited when it arrived in time for our Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard review. And once we got our hands on it, we saw it in a standard-looking cardboard box that was quite eye-catching.

The front displays an image of the keyboard itself with all its LEDs lit. You’ll also see Razer’s branding here, as well as the product’s name and its key features.

Inside, you’ll find the Huntsman Mini Analog mechanical keyboard together with other inclusions from Razer. These are a USB-A to C cable, USB cap covers, Razer stickers, and a couple of user documentation.

Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard Review – Design and Functionality

Let’s look into the design and functions of the keyboard here in our Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard review. First off, the Huntsman Mini Analog mechanical keyboard is categorised as a 60% keyboard. Meaning, it doesn’t come with a number pad.

Also, the extra function keys were condensed to the other available keys as secondary functions.

With a total of 61 keys present, the keyboard appears just like its predecessor in both dimensions and design.

When it comes to its build quality, we can only say that it’s excellently sturdy. Its plastic chassis and aluminium top plate give off a durable and solid feel that doesn’t show signs of flex.

For its doubleshot PBT keycaps, they feel nice and clean to the touch. Then, the hotkey legends can be found in front of the keycap. That means, they won’t likely rub off since your fingers won’t touch them when utilising the keyboard.

The Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard Optical Key Switch

This feature is considered the most important highlight of the keyboard. Instead of using a standard digital output that registers keypresses, the optical key switch allows for scaling input levels. These correspond to how much pressure you put on each press you make on the switch.

This results in finer control over movements, as well as adjustable actuation points that can be used across the keyboard. Also, it works on specific keys as well.

For its aluminium casing and form factor, the Huntsman Mini Analog mechanical keyboard doesn’t stray from the original. So at first glance, no one can really tell there’s an entirely new feel to this keyboard.

Though when it comes to its weight, the Huntsman Mini Analog mechanical keyboard is slightly heavier than the original. But despite that, it’s still considered as one of the lighter keyboards available today.

Not only that, it sports the same double-shot PBT keycaps that the original keyboard has. Thus, giving the keys a highly durable and great quality that won’t wear off easily.

Additional Design Features of the Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard

To complete this section of our Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard review, let’s discuss its extra design features. We already mentioned that some keys were condensed with other available keys to make everything compact. So to use them, holding the FN button will instantly highlight those keys.

Not only that, but doing this will also add more visibility to the all-black mechanical keyboard.

Underneath the keyboard, you’ll see Razer’s tagline “For Gamers” emblazoned in this area. Other than this, there are kickstands to add extra height to the product when you need it.

Additionally, there’s a little stand with a six-degree tilt nestled in the bigger stand. We think this is a good addition for players who opt for a more vertical position for the keyboard.

Then lastly, an in-set is preset for the product’s USB-C cable. It’s a nice feature since it tucks neatly into the keyboard, adding to its minimalist and clean look.

Key Features of the Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard

Razer Analog Optical Switches for Adjustable Actuation

The Analog Optical Switches from Razer allow for keystrokes with varied actuation points. You can execute multiple commands in one keystroke unlike traditional switches. Since these switches can detect how far a key is pressed, they can trigger various commands depending on actuation height.

Analog Input for Finer Movement Control

Razer’s switches are capable of seamless 360-degree motion inputs, so you can say goodbye to rigid 8-way WASD movement. These switches are excellent for FPS and racing games since they work like analogue joysticks.

Dual-step Actuation for Streamlined Actions

With the Huntsman Mini Analog, you can set two functions within one keypress. This allows you to execute advanced combos and skill rotations more efficiently.

In fact, we experienced this while testing the product for our Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard review. We were able to execute our moves flawlessly which was an advantage for us in various games.

Doubleshot PBT Keycaps + Side-Printed Secondary Functions

This feature offers a premium textured quality to the keyboard, plus it’s designed for enhanced durability for prolonged use. The keys won’t ever end up with a shiny finish, or have labels that wear off due to intense use.

Onboard Memory + Lighting Presets

No matter where you play, all your settings will be with you. Store these and activate up to five keyboard profiles without the need for softwares.

Plus, you can personalise these further by utilising the preloaded suite of the Chroma RGB lighting effects from Razer.

The Chroma software powers the Huntsman Mini Analog mechanical keyboard’s RGB lights. Also, it comes with several other customisation options that you’ll definitely love.

Easy Setup, Quick Storage with the Detachable Type-C Cable

Just unpack your gear, plug, then play without all the fuss during your LAN tournaments and parties. It also comes with a convenient cable latch to make sure that everything stays connected during game time.

Razer’s Reliable Warranty and Tech Support

The Huntsman Mini Analog comes with up to two years of warranty and access to Razer’s tech support. You can purchase this directly from the RazerStore and acquire 14 days of risk-free returns.

Specifications

This part of our Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard review showcases the different specifications of the keyboard. To begin, the keyboard uses the Razer Analog Optical Switch, and is categorised as a 60% keyboard.

When we talk about its lighting, the Huntsman Mini Analog mechanical keyboard has individually-backlit keys. To give off quality lighting, the company used their Chroma RGB backlighting that features 16.8 million customisable colour options.

Its onboard memory is a hybrid storage that can store up to five key binding profiles. We appreciate it having wired connectivity while its USB-C braided fibre cable is a detachable one too.

Lastly, its keycaps are the Razer Doubleshot PBT keycaps, so you can be sure that these can last long.

Hands-on with the Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard

CleanShot 2022 04 19 at 08.37.13 Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard Review

We didn’t forget to try out this keyboard for our Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard review. Here, we’ll share our experience with it as well as how the keyboard performed.

Razer Synapse 3

This software is necessary to customise the keyboard. With it, you can change the RGB effects, program macros, or alter the Windows key lock settings. It even has a Hypershift option that allows you to set another layer of customisations to your keys.

And the nice thing here? You can save each of your customised settings, such as the lighting, to the onboard memory.

Other things you can do with the software is set keys to function as analogue controls. It will mimic the joystick’s pressure sensitivity. Also, you’ll be able to set other keys to mirror your gamepad’s trigger buttons.

Though its most distinct feature is that you can utilise the Synapse 3 for adjusting the pre-travel distance. This is for each key available on a per-key basis.

Performance

Now, let’s discuss its performance here in our Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard review. When we tried using it for over a week, it only gave us excellent results since it performed exceptionally.

Though if you’re switching to it from a full-sized keyboard, you’ll definitely need some time to get used to it.

When we tried typing with it, our experience was great. Plus, the PBT keycaps really gave off a good feel because of the slight texture.

Another thing we loved about it is that the keycaps weren’t prone to slipperiness or shine because of finger oil. Also, we appreciate Razer for providing adequate spacing to the keys without them being too cramped.

Since it sports Razer’s Analog Optical Switches, we were able to adjust the reset and pre-travel points of the switch easily. We lowered these and received a more responsive gaming experience that we greatly appreciate.

We were also able to increase the pre-travel distance while typing which helped us prevent making accidental keypresses.

It had great latency, outstanding backlights, and it was simply a great keyboard to use. Overall, we loved how the Huntsman Mini Analog mechanical keyboard worked, and we’d definitely recommend it.

Razer Huntsman Mini Analog Mechanical Keyboard Review Summary

The Huntsman Mini Analog is another great keyboard from Razer despite its reduced size. It’s rich with features that you can’t find in any other mechanical gaming keyboard.

Just like other Razer products, this keyboard has a premium build and is excellently engineered. Since it has a 60% form factor that eliminates some keys of a full-sized keyboard, expect a little learning curve. But the great thing is you can make the most of it since it offers a lot of customisation options.

The Huntsman Mini Analog is a niche product designed for those looking for a compact and durable gaming keyboard. With its precision, ease of use, and reliability, we highly recommend it.

To get your hands on the Huntsman Mini Analog, you can purchase it from Razer’s official site.
