This review will discuss the keyboard’s features, specifications, design, functions, and how well it works. Everything about the product is shared with you to help determine if it’s worth purchasing for your setup.

But before we look deeper into the keyboard,  let’s find out what’s inside the box.

Inside, the Huntsman V2 and its wrist rest are plastic-wrapped for added protection. There are razer stickers and a user guide in the box. All these are kept neatly in a pocket on the box’s flip cover.

Razer Huntsman V2 Optical Gaming Keyboard Review – Design and Functionality

The keyboard for this Razer Huntsman V2 Optical Gaming Keyboard Review has a black body with Razer Purple Clicky switches. But you can choose the Razer Linear Red switches if the previous isn’t your preference.

If you aren’t familiar with their differences, we’ll discuss them to give you an idea. The purple switches are tactile and loud, while the red ones are quiet and linear.

We can verify that the review model we have is nice and clicky.

Like other Huntsman/recent BlackWidow models, this keyboard features a full-black plastic body with a matte brushed exterior. You’ll see a subtle Razer logo on the removable wrist rest, which we find suitable for the keyboard.

The Huntsman V2 has a few additional features that the original model doesn’t have. Some are dedicated media keys and a multi-function knob that manages volume by default.

All the keys are macro-programmable, and you can even directly set macros from the board via the Macro key.

The keyboard has keys that stretch from edge to edge, making it compact considering its full size. Remember that its keys are very light, especially if you prefer heavier clicks. But despite the lightness, each of these feels sturdy and strong because of the Doubleshot PBT keycaps.

Additionally, each key sports the Razer Chroma RGB customisable backlighting with 16.8M colour choices. The lighting adds personality to your setup since it shines through the numbers and letters. We love that it doesn’t look overwhelmingly over the top and isn’t as bright as other keyboards.

The cushioned wrist rest features a Razer logo printed on the centre. It’s a comfy and ergonomic wrist rest that allows you to feel its benefits while engaging in long gaming sessions.

To connect the Huntsman V2 to your computer, utilise the USB cable behind the keyboard. Unlike the Huntsman Elite, you’ll only need one port to power the RGBs and keyboard. Razer opted for a braided fibre cable, making it flexible enough for most setups.

Key Features of the Razer Huntsman V2 Optical Gaming Keyboard

We’re discussing the product’s features in our Razer Huntsman V2 Optical Gaming Keyboard review to see what makes it great. Is it better than other gaming keyboards on the market? Let’s find out.

Razer Optical Switches

Razer’s optical switches are lighter, faster, and more durable than conventional mechanical switches. It offers up to an 8000Hz polling rate, allowing for lower input latency.

The keyboard we’re testing for this review features clicky switches, but you can opt for the linear ones. The clicky ones deliver crisp and tactile feedback, while the linear types are smoother and more silent.

Lightning-fast Actuation for Swift Movement

The Huntsman V2’s optical switches use the Razer HyperPolling technology. These are three times faster than Magnetic Switches with their industry-leading 0.2m response time.

Doubleshot PBT Keycaps of the Razer Huntsman V2 Optical Gaming Keyboard

These Doubleshot PBT keycaps are more durable and solid than ABS plastic. That’s why they won’t wear down to a shiny finish. With the Doubleshot moulding process, its labels will never fade.

Sound Dampening Foam

The foam inside the Huntsman V2’s casing offers improved acoustics. It absorbs pinging noise that may occur when bottoming out your keys.

Ergonomic Wrist Rest

The included ergonomic wrist rest relieves pressure on your wrists since it perfectly aligns with the keyboard. When using it, you’ll feel less fatigue even when gaming over long periods.

Multi-Function Digital Dial and Four Media Keys

Configure the digital dial and media keys to play, pause, and skip tracks with convenience while enjoying your entertainment. You can also customise everything from brightness to volume.

Hybrid Onboard Memory and Cloud Storage

Save and activate up to five onboard memory profiles and be ready for any match with the Huntsman V2. With its cloud storage, you can create a library of primary settings and macros.

Razer’s Reliability

Purchase the Huntsman V2 from Razerstore to get risk-free returns for 14 days. The keyboard also comes with two years of warranty and access to the company’s tech support.

Specifications

Our Razer Huntsman V2 Optical Gaming Keyboard Review will focus on the keyboard’s specifications. These are essential information to help determine if the keyboard is ideal for your needs.

This full-sized keyboard uses the Razer linear optical switch and Razer’s Chroma RGB customisable lighting with 16.8M colour options. It has hybrid onboard storage that allows up to five keybinding profiles. There’s also a braided fibre cable for connectivity plus Razer Doubleshot PBT keycaps.

Its polling rate goes up to true 8000Hz with Razer’s HyperPolling technology.

Hands-on with the Razer Huntsman V2 Optical Gaming Keyboard

We didn’t pass up on testing the keyboard for our Razer Huntsman V2 Optical Gaming Keyboard review. That’s why we used it for over a week to see how good (or not) it performs.

To organise and customise the Huntsman V2, you’ll need to download the Razer Synapse. It has an easy-to-use interface that adjusts the polling rate and customisations to the RGBs. It also allows switching between gaming modes.

The software even lets you reprogram buttons and create up to five keybinding profiles to save on the keyboard.

Chroma Studio is an add-on that provides more RGB customisations on top of what you have from Synapse. If you have Philips Hue lighting in your home, it lets you connect to these. Additionally, you can control these via Amazon Alexa.

While using the keyboard for our Razer Huntsman V2 Optical Gaming Keyboard Review, we realised how fast it was. It scanned keypresses 8,000 times a second and reported this data to our computer.

It means each tap has an instantaneous response, and there’s no instance of inaccuracy. An average gamer won’t possibly notice the difference in its responsiveness. So while it appears highly impressive, it’s likely unnecessary for most people.

It was excellent to type on the Huntsman V2 since the double-shot PBT keycaps had a great texture. The keyboard’s incline settings and wrist rest effectively helped reduce fatigue on our hands and wrists.

The linear optical switches from Razer felt responsive and light thanks to the keyboard’s low operating force and quick pre-travel distance.

Razer Huntsman V2 Optical Gaming Keyboard Review Summary

The Huntsman V2 is one of the best gaming keyboards today. It combines incredible speed and responsiveness with durable, tactile keys and stunning RGB lighting. Since the keyboard also comes with a comfortable wrist rest, the whole package becomes a great day.

What makes it better is you can choose from clicky or linear switches, and it has configurable media keys too.

If you already own Razer gear, then the Huntsman V2 is worth considering. It will allow you to manage and synchronise your peripherals’ settings through the same Razer Synapse software. And with that, you can create a unique light show.
