In our Razer Viper V2 Pro review, we’re looking at the successor to their top Razer Viper Ultimate. We’re talking about the Viper V2 Pro, and it’s 20% lighter and equipped with top-quality upgrades for optimised performance.
It’s one of the lightest wireless gaming mice around, so nothing will hold you back when gaming.
It’s not just about being lightweight. The Viper V2 Pro features tons of notable elements and specifications that make it an ideal product to use.
To learn more about the product, continue reading our Razer Viper V2 Pro review. Here, we will give you insights into its design, features, specifications, and performance.
Razer Viper V2 Pro Packaging
The first thing we’ll discuss in our Razer Viper V2 Pro review is the packaging and its contents. Our gaming mouse arrived in your typical-looking cardboard box that displays an image of the product in front.
You’ll find Razer’s logo on the upper-right corner, HyperSpeed on the opposite side, and the product’s name beneath the image. A short description of the mouse is under the product’s name. The company also included a list of its key features in this area.
To get more information about the mouse, just flip the box to find more of its features displayed. Also, another image of the Viper V2 Pro at a different angle is present on the box’s rear.
The mouse has a perfectly-shaped space to keep the Viper V2 Pro in place. Under the mouse, you’ll find a box that holds the other little extras included in the package.
Inside, you’ll find the mouse, a Type-A to C Speedflex cable, a wireless USB dongle, and a wireless USB adapter. Also in the box are the Razer mouse grip tape, a few Razer stickers, and the user’s guide.
Razer Viper V2 Pro Review – Design and Functionality
The Viper V2 Pro appears like its predecessor sans the lighting. It has an all-matte black style similar to the DeathAdder line from Razer. But to make the mouse more lightweight, Razer scrapped elements such as the lighting in the tri-skeleton branding.
There are other omitted features that we’ll discuss in our Razer Viper V2 Pro review.
For instance, there were only two buttons on the mouse’s right side while they removed everything on the left side.
Then, they removed the little compartment under most of Razer’s mice. Now, you’ll find an adapter that carries the USB-shaped dongle. Underneath, you’ll find a button cycling through the Viper V2 Pro’s 30K DPI that also functions as the power button.
You won’t find a grip on the sides of the mouse. Instead, you have a set of grip tapes in the package. This addition is beneficial if you want some customisations to the mouse.
The Viper V2 Pro has two wide grips on either side and two extra slimmer grips. One has three rounded edges, and the other has five.
The mouse weighs 58g which is 16g less than the Viper Ultimate wireless. While we understand the whole idea for its lightweight design, it feels too hollow to use for everyday tasks.
Below its wheel is an LED with colours that blink/alter depending on the mouse’s status. The indicator flashes red twice when the mouse’s battery is less than 5%. From this, the light flashes orange, yellow, and then green when it’s fully charged.
The LEDs change when cycling between DPI to display each setting. Green is 800, red is 400, blue is 1,600, cyan is 3,200, then yellow is 6,400 DPI.
Key Features of the Razer Viper V2 Pro
Here in our Razer Viper V2 Pro review is a list of the mouse’s key elements. These are what make it great for a lot of gamers and enthusiasts.
Ultra-Fine Adjustments
Based on your playstyle, enabling Asymmetric Cut-off allows individually setting a landing and lift-off distance.
The mouse has 26 granular levels of height adjustment, and it’s more than what the previous version had.
Razer Focus Pro 30K Optical Sensor
Razer teamed up with PixArt to create the Focus Pro 30K – the most precise optical sensor. It features Smart Tracking – technology that allows maintaining a consistent lift-off distance.
It doesn’t matter what surface you’re using since it offers greater accuracy and control.
Moreover, it uses Motion Sync, a technology that syncs signals accurately to the intervals when your system extracts information. With it, you can guarantee that it gets the most current updates of your mouse’s position for consistent tracking.
Mouse DPI Control
The Viper V2 Pro lets you toggle between five DPI stages without using the software. Equipping yourself with this gaming mouse makes you ready to compete anywhere since it’s also lightweight and portable.
Onboard Memory
With the onboard profile of the Viper V2 Pro, you can store and utilise your last used profile. Choose from calibrated settings like DPI, polling rate, and lift-off distance even without the software.
Razer Hypershift
Double your inputs at one touch of a button by activating additional keybinds and the DPI stage.
Razer’s Gen-3 Optical Mouse Switches
The Viper V2 Pro’s mouse switches offer a lifecycle of 90-million clicks without double-clicking issues.
80-Hour Battery Life of the Razer Viper V2 Pro
With 80-hours of battery life, you won’t need to charge the Viper V2 Pro each time. Simply connect via USB-C to recharge.
Razer HyperSpeed Wireless
HyperSpeed Wireless is 25% faster than other wireless technologies, and it even supports multiple devices.
Warranty and Reliable Customer Support
Razer offers up to two years of warranty for the Viper V2 Pro. There’s also a 14-day risk-free return when purchasing directly from RazerStore. The company also provides access to technical support.
Specifications
While working on our Razer Viper V2 Pro review, we learned a couple of things about the mouse. It sports a right-handed form factor and has Razer’s HyperSpeed wireless and Speedflex cable connections.
If you’re wondering about its battery life, it can last up to 80 hours with constant motion at 1,000Hz.
Razer utilised the Focus Pro 30K optical sensor for the mouse. The product also has a max sensitivity (DPI) of 30,000 and speed (IPS) of 750.
Its full calibration is 70g, has five programmable buttons, optical mouse switches Gen3, and 90 million clicks for switch lifecycles. Additionally, it has one onboard memory profile and 100% PTFE mouse feet.
Lastly, the Viper V2 Pro measures 126.7 x 57.6 x 37.8mm (LxWxH) and weighs 58g.
Hands-on with the Razer Viper V2 Pro
We tested the Viper V2 Pro for our Razer Viper V2 Pro review for one whole week. We played a variety of games like Doom Eternal and World of Warcraft. Then, we also used it for various tasks like web browsing and work.
But let’s first start with its shape. Since Razer designed the mouse’s body this way, it allowed us to adjust and get used to it. Its PTFE feet were good enough to use right out of the box, but we think it would greatly benefit from a good break-in.
We didn’t have any problems with tracking on the desk mat. And because of its shell’s slightly coarse texture, we were able to have a better grip which was great.
Tracking
The mouse’s tracking was precise and smooth, plus its flicks were insanely easy to execute. It’s all because the mouse is very lightweight.
In games, the performance gap we experienced was all because of our skill or lack thereof. We never really blamed the mouse for those issues that occurred on screen.
Generally, it performed magnificently, and we didn’t have any issues. And when it came to raw performance, the Viper V2 Pro was probably the best gaming mouse we tried.
Though we miss the RGB and its pedestal, the mouse didn’t lack glide ability or feel. Its reduced weight made the product feel like a part of your hand rather than a regular peripheral.
Speed, Latency, and Battery
We were surprised by its connectivity since the Viper V2 Pro was fast. HyperSpeed Wireless made the mouse 25% faster than other wireless technologies.
While using the Viper V2 Pro, we noticed how reliable it was because of its responsiveness even without wired connectivity. It was just as good as any wired mice with zero latency.
We also used it for long periods without recharging it too often. But even when we ran out of charge, we continued using the Viper V2 Pro with the Speedfflex cable. It was soft and flexible, plus it didn’t bother us when playing.
