And as its name suggests, the LED lights can display moving images despite being in a reduced and monochrome resolution.
Sounds interesting? Well, it is. Read on to get our full ASUS ROG Delta S Animate Headset review and learn more about ASUS’ latest headset.
The headset arrived in your typical-looking ROG box. The front displayed an image of one side of the product, ASUS ROG’s branding, plus the name of the product.
The sides and rear portions of the box showcase additional details about the Delta S Animate. Then on its rear, you’ll see another image of the headset, as well as images of some of its parts.
Once opened, the top of the cover displays ROG’s branding at the centre. Then, a thick and stylish-looking piece of cardboard is placed on top of the other items inside the box. It again displays ROG’s logo, as well as a greeting that states, “Welcome to the Elite Republic of Gamers Community”.
Setting that aside, you’ll find the Delta S Animate nestled nicely and comfortably in a form-fitting space. That means, you don’t need to worry about your headset getting any damages while in transit. And even if it goes through an aggressively rough delivery, it’ll remain safe and pristine.
ASUS ROG Delta S Animate Headset Review – Design and Functionality
The product is a bold gaming headset and it’s proven in our ASUS ROG Delta S Animate Headset review. When we finally got it out of the box, we saw how big it was. It’s definitely designed to attract and make an impression.
Like most gaming headsets, the Delta S Animate has two well-padded cups. It also has a boom mic and a plush headband.
There are D-shaped cups that wrap around the ears better since these don’t pinch parts beneath the cushion. These are also thick and angled-out in the rear, so it opens the chamber at the back of the driver. What this does is it provides a bigger and more spacious sound for your listening enjoyment.
We also checked its controls for this ASUS ROG Delta S Animate Headset review. All of these are found on the left earcup for easier operation. And what we love about them is that they feel tactile and pleasantly clicky.
What caught our attention was the volume wheel since it doesn’t really function like a typical one. We can only describe it as a wheel-shaped spring-loaded volume rocker.
Although unique, it’s a smart design that works perfectly with the product. Plus, it has a nice touch to it.
We like that you can easily make adjustments or crank it down/up by holding it in a corresponding position. Also, you can just conveniently press to mute/unmute the mic.

The headset also simultaneously preserves vocal harmonics for superior clarity during in-game voice communication.

The headset features a sloped design that provides more comfort while improving audio quality. It channels sound directly into the ear canal and tilts the drivers at a 12-degree angle.
Hybrid or Leather Ear Cushions
This headset comes with two types of ear cushions so you can choose which suits you. The ROG Hybrid Ear Cushions are made of protein leather and fabric mesh which provide a contoured fit. Fast-Cooling Leather Ear Cushions, on the other hand, are made of 100% protein leather which is thinner and softer.

Hands-on with the ASUS ROG Delta S Animate Headset
Now, we will discuss our experience with the headset in our ASUS ROG Delta S Animate Headset review. We’ll share how it worked, what its sound quality is, and if it’s something worth buying.
Armoury Crate Software
The Armoury Crate software is where the LED display of the Delta S Animate can be controlled. Compared to other peripheral suites, it’s more intuitive and consumes a minimal amount of RAM.
This interface is preloaded with a variety of default animations. When we tested the LEDs, we noticed that these can only handle simple, high-contrast images. This feature is really designed for images with minimal details like logos and emojis.
Aside from images, the LEDs can display scrolling text with no upper limit.
For audio settings, Armoury Crate offers an impressive EQ customisation which offers more options than some competitors’ software suites. This is a huge advantage especially for those who like making additional sound optimisation.
Overall, Armoury Crate is a great utility suite with a lot of customisation options for both audio and LED display. It’s also user-friendly and intuitive which makes it better.
Performance of the ASUS ROG Delta S Animate Headset
Our first test for the Delta S Animate was listening to its audio out of the box. We wanted to know what sound it would deliver without tweaking its audio via the software’s EQ. To our surprise, it was better than most gaming headsets.
The Delta S Animate delivered balanced but powerful and thumpy bass with solid mids. At a higher volume level, the highs struggle but we were able to adjust this via Armoury Crate.
In terms of gaming, this headset offered superior audio quality. Its surround performance was impressive since it delivered a competitive edge.
We used the FPS preset and we were able to hear all the details we haven’t heard before. For the best experience, we recommend selecting a preset and adjusting it based on your preferences.
Aside from high-quality audio, the microphone delivered great performance as well. We were able to communicate with teammates properly since it captured our voices clearly while eliminating unnecessary noise.
For its overall performance, the Delta S Animate is a comprehensive headset that offers excellent audio quality. With its impressive performance, this product is easy to recommend.
