Beyerdynamic Blue Byrd ANC Review – Design and Functionality
After we unboxed for this Beyerdynamic Blue Byrd ANC Review, we decided to focus first on its design and functions.
The Blue Byrd ANC earphones are exclusively in a sleek black finish, complete with a matte black neckband. While the neckband resembles older earbuds, it offers improved comfort.
By engineering its neckband to be flexible, Beyerdynamic has effectively addressed most of the comfort concerns associated with older-style designs.
The rear surfaces sport a shiny plastic finish with the prominent Beyerdynamic logo. Meanwhile, the remaining portions of the cable and neckband feature a sweat-resistant rubberised plastic material.
It plays a crucial role in achieving its IPX4 resistance rating, making it capable of withstanding sweat and accidental splashes. However, it is essential to note that attempting to rinse them off in the sink is not advisable.
The earpieces, adorned with the Beyerdynamic Y logo, feature a glossy exterior. Plus, they extend from both ends of the rubberised, sweat-resistant connecting wire. The left side of the cable has a cinch for convenient storage management, while most controls are on the right.
The earbuds provide a secure and comfortable fit. The package includes silicone ear tips in five sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL). All you have to do is choose which size fits best to achieve optimal comfort and listening experience.
Aside from the headset design, our Beyerdynamic Blue Byrd ANC Review will also discuss its controls.
The neckband design offers the advantage of conveniently accessible physical buttons.
On the right side, there are three in-line control buttons. It has plus (+) and minus (-) buttons for adjusting the volume level. You will also find the multifunction middle button can play/pause media, skip tracks, and activate the voice assistant.
The neckband comprises two sections, and one houses a USB-C charging port. The other conceals a button beneath the Beyerdynamic logo, used to power on and off the Blue Byrd ANC.

Hands-on with the Beyerdynamic Blue Byrd ANC
Beyerdynamic MIY App
The Beyerdynamic MIY app is available for free on Android and iOS. Its user interface has a clean design, making navigation more convenient. Plus, it offers comprehensive options for customising the audio of the Blue Byrd ANC.
On the main page, the battery life indicators are above a section for switching between ANC and Transparency modes. Beyerdynamic could make it better by adding a slider to adjust the intensity of these modes.
Below these are the settings where you will find the sound profile section. Accessing this allows you to go through a hearing test.
It will generate a custom audio signature optimised for your hearing. Moreover, you will find an EQ tab with presets, including Original, Bass Boost, Treble, V-Shape, Smooth, Speech, and Warm.
MIY gathers diverse statistics, including total playback time, phone usage duration, and daily volume levels. Additionally, you can modify the status LED brightness, toggle sidetone, download and install firmware updates, and select your voice assistant.
By default, the earbuds use the native assistant of your phone, but you can opt for Alexa. While not entirely hands-free, this integration worked seamlessly during testing.
We used Blue Byrd ANC with the original EQ mode to hear its default sound quality. The headset delivers an impactful low-end response when playing tracks with deep sub-bass elements. It retains its clarity and has no sign of distortion at high volumes.
This headset reproduces the mid-range with high accuracy and focuses on human voices. As a result, podcasts and audiobooks are easier to understand.
With its boosted lows and highs, we enjoyed listening to pop music. Its well-rounded sound profile impacts the tracks and keeps the powerful bass. The Blue Byrd ANC is another excellent Beyerdynamic product with a satisfying sound profile to please most listeners.
The microphone of the Blue Byrd ANC array provides excellent clarity. We kept the sidetone feature on while testing it for our Beyerdynamic Blue Byrd ANC Review. We noticed this feature enhanced our vocal clarity when we used the product.
This headset worked excellently and made our voices intelligible in recordings. Everything was clear and easy to understand, thanks to its design.
