Today we are writing our Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 review to check the latest offering from Razer.
The Blackshark V2 was a crowd favourite for years. However, its wireless version, the Blackshark V2 Pro from 2020, did not interest the users.
One reason for this low popularity is its high price. Interestingly, the latest version of the Blackshark V2 Pro is pricier than its predecessor.
The current model triples its battery life, adds a Bluetooth connection, plus has a more detailed and refined sound signature. It even integrates additional features to make your listening experience memorable. The thing is, are these elements enough to justify the sky-high price?
Our Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 review has everything you need to know about the latest headset from Razer. Here, we will look into its design, functions, the features it offers, and whether it performs better than its predecessor.
We will also see if the headset is worth investing in or if we should look elsewhere. But before we get into the product, let us check its packaging and what Razer included.
Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 Packaging
Our headset arrived at the perfect time for this Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 review. And as expected, it still shipped in the same Razer box that sports its classic neon green and black theme.
Like other Razer products, the front displays an image of the V2 Pro, the company branding, and the model name. In addition, a few features are on display underneath the image and the headset name.
The Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 ships with additional items, which include the following:
- A removable Razer HyperClear Super Wideband mic
- One USB-A to USB-C charging cable
- The product manual
Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 Review – Design and Functionality
Let us look into the design and functions of the product in our Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 review.
Physically, this current version of the V2 Pro is indistinguishable from the previous one. But the nice thing is you can choose between black and white.
The headset is lightweight and its earpads integrate soft and comfy memory foam. In addition, these have breathable cloth covers, which adds to the comfort.
The headband has adequate padding, while the top section has a faux leather covering. It means you should not experience any discomfort when wearing the headset throughout long gaming sessions.
The product offers oblong-shaped ear cups with matte plastic shells. These link to the headband using short wires that are fabric-wrapped and Y-shaped struts.
These thinly-designed struts on the headsets from the Blackshark series set them apart from other series like Barracuda and Kraken.
If you are still getting familiar with the other series, the Barracuda headsets have ear cups that look unassuming. Meanwhile, the Kraken headsets feature more circular ones.
The left ear cup of this V2 Pro houses most of its connections and controls. These include the power button, USB-C port, mic mute button, and one port for its detachable boom mic. It also features a volume knob that works with your connected device.
On the right ear cup, you will only find the pairing button.
Ports and Connectivity
The company integrated a few changes into the overall package. Thankfully, Razer replaced the micro USB charging port with a USB-C. It is also not recessed like other products, so you can use any compatible cable for charging this headset.
Unfortunately, this Blackshark V2 Pro does not feature a 3.5mm aux port, a feature available in the original. So, it is not compatible with the Xbox.
This aspect could be a make-or-break deal for some users. But if you are still interested, continue reading this Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 Headset Review. We will also share other elements that Razer integrated to help determine if this headset is worth purchasing.

Hands-on with the Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023
Before we continue our Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 review to see how it performed, let us check Synapse.
It has four eSports & standard audio presets that you can choose to cycle between. The latter includes movie, music, game, and custom modes, while the eSports preset directly supports various games. These include CoD, Alex Legends, Fortnite, CSGO, and Valorant.
You can switch between them by pressing + holding the button on the right ear cup for three seconds.
What is notable about the Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 is that all its presets are directly kept in the headset. So even if you make EQ adjustments, these will remain.
You can carry these presets to any system and continue using them without Synapse. Once you customise the audio profiles to your preferences, you can delete Synapse. You can conveniently switch and change everything from the headset.
We used the V2 Pro 2023 for a couple of weeks and were impressed with its performance. It is the most comprehensive headset from Razer, and we highly appreciate all the improvements made to the product.
The additions implemented on the V2 Pro 2023 make it the go-to headset for eSports gamers. Plus, Razer collaborated with eSports pros to tailor the EQ profiles of this headset.
We appreciate the differences between specific EQ profiles for each game, including Apex Legends, Fortnite, Counter-Strike, and Call of Duty. The tailored settings offer balanced audio for these titles.
In Counter-Strike, footsteps are more noticeable and defined, making it easy to locate opponents.
When playing Call of Duty, we also hear the differences between distant shots and footsteps. These were more audible and defined, thanks to the soundstage of the V2 Pro 2023.
Overall, the eSports profiles of the V2 Pro 2023 are excellent for different games. Tweaking these also helps enhance various details in the audio to meet particular needs and give a competitive edge.
The most significant improvement in the V2 Pro 2023 is its microphone. Razer expanded the sampling rate of its custom HyperClear mic from 16kHz to 32kHz. As a result, it can pick up more vocal frequencies to deliver more natural and audible voices.
The microphone of this headset sounds better than the competition, and it also eliminates background noise excellently.
Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 Review Summary
Razer implemented significant improvements on the 2023 iteration of the V2 Pro. It is more durable and comfortable; its battery lasts three times longer. Aside from that, its microphone performs better too.
With the implemented enhancements, it is a must-have headset in 2023. Its excellent performance in our tests for this Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 review makes it easy to recommend as one of the best closed-back headphones for gaming.
