Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless Review – Design and Functionality

This headset sports a design that is not common for gaming products. And we noticed its aesthetics while writing our Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless Review.

On the Nova 7X, the headband and earcups are robust to keep the ski-band style on this product. The latter is considered a hallmark element of Steelseries, hence, why the company included it in the headset.

The weight of this headset became lighter, with its 325g being about 15% more lightweight than the earlier model. This weight reduction decreases the chances of discomfort, especially during long hours of gameplay.

Additionally, its body has plenty of plastic parts. However, it still has a quality and premium feel. Plus, it is highly flexible.

We also noticed its fabric memory foam cushions while testing the product for our Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless Review. It is comfortable and relaxing, despite not having the biggest cup size compared to similar products.

What is its most notable change in aesthetics is its overall look. The headset also sports a stylish look usual in Sony products, far from pure gaming headsets.

Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless Microphone

The mic completely retracts into the Nova 7X. And with Bluetooth, you can now take the headset on the road, albeit without any integrated ANC.

Additionally, you can also choose to stream audio via multiple devices. You can even take calls from your Smartphone without pausing the game you are playing. Moreover, the headset will allow you to chat while continuously playing, which is convenient for every gamer.

Hands-on with the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless

Before focusing on its performance, our Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless Review will discuss the Steelseries GG and Sonar.

When connecting the headset to a PC, we could use Sonar in addition to the Steelseries GG. In the latter, we had control over firmware, EQ, and most features, yet we could access the Parametric EQ in Sonar.

The neutral and flat balance of the headset still offered adequate clarity and detail to enhance frequencies. Moreover, we were able to use several presets and could also create our own.

Using Sonar allowed us to notice that vocals were not pronounced compared to some of the higher-end frequencies. There is an easy fix for such issues during audio listening or PC gaming.

Sonar customisation will be unavailable when pairing the headset with the Xbox or your Smartphone.

The customisation options in Sonar extend to tweaking the chat audio via audio. These include received vocal audio and what the microphone captures.

The software also features ClearCast, an AI-based noise-cancellation technology. During our tests, it worked excellently in eliminating background noise from our keyboard and mouse.

Steelseries also added the Less Nasal microphone preset, which worked perfectly in reducing the nasally sound of our voices.

Audio Quality of the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless

Overall, the Nova 7X sounded excellent for both gaming and audio listening via PC. We enjoyed our experience since it gave us a varied and rich profile.

We did not notice or experience distortions. Plus, the 40mm drivers were consistently crystal-clear.

Its 40mm drivers gave us balanced and neutral audio. We enjoyed its warm, precise bass response, crisp highs, and clear mid-range.

It had adequate mid-range clarity, adding depth to various audio and tunes. Plus, it had pronounced stereo separation that was also evident for spatial audio when we enabled it.

That is what we appreciate about Steelseries. The company never had issues delivering a perfect and unparalleled audio experience to every user. And with the Nova 7X, this headset continues its tradition while staying affordable.

The microphone was not broadcast-grade or comparable to a standalone model, but it works well for streaming. However, we still recommend getting a separate USB or XLR microphone if you plan to take streaming or podcasting seriously.

This integrated microphone on the Nova 7X was as good as those in other Steelseries products. Although it only had a minimal buzz, it was precise and allowed clear communication.

ClearCast did not need updates when we tested the Nova 7X. It worked effectively out of the box, and we did not experience any issues.
