SteelSeries Arena 7 Review – Room Filling Gaming Audio

SteelSeries is one of the leading brands for gaming peripherals and accessories. The company has offered high-quality headsets, keyboards, and mice, which are the top choices of many gamers. Of course, SteelSeries did not miss out on gaming speakers, which we will discuss in this SteelSeries Arena 7 Review.

The Arena 7 is the mid-range product in the Arena product line between the Arena 3 and Arena 9. It combines the features of the two models, offering multi-connectivity, customisable RGB, and other unique features.

Our SteelSeries Arena 7 Review will discuss all the details you need about this product. These will include its design, specifications, primary features, and how it performed during our tests.

SteelSeries Arena 7 Packaging

SteelSeries ships the Arena 7 in a sturdy box with the usual branding of the company. The front panel features the product image and its name with the company branding in bold white text. Other primary details are also available here.

The sides and rear of the box display more information, including features, specifications, and more.

SteelSeries included the following items inside the package:

  • Arena 7 gaming speakers
  • Subwoofer
  • USB-C to USB-A Cable

SteelSeries Arena 7 Review – Design and Functionality

These speakers are the middle choice you can go for when it comes to the desktop speaker line from SteelSeries. When we unboxed it for our SteelSeries Arena 7 Review, we saw two speakers sporting RGB backlights. It has a 6.5-inch subwoofer for its low end.

The Speakers

The design of the Arena 7 does not scream gaming products like most current peripherals. Instead, the company opted for a sleeker, more refined aesthetic featuring smoother curves along the primary desktop speakers. We love its solid build quality, with the speakers giving off some heft.

Additionally, there is the aspect of convenience. Positioned on the right speaker is a user-friendly dial for volume adjustment. Moreover, you can enjoy dual audio output for looping in music or immersing in your beloved games.

Furthermore, its plug-and-play functionality ensures a swift and effortless setup process suitable for all users.

The SteelSeries Arena 7 speakers excel in design and quality, integrating into our gaming setup as an excellent component. Regarding pricing, it is reasonably justified, considering its collection of notable features and top-notch construction, aligning well with its entry price.

While writing our SteelSeries Arena 7 Review, we noticed its more subtle base LEDs. We do not have complaints about it because anything brighter would be too distracting.

Pressing the function button twice will switch off the lights, a handy feature during daylight hours. By default, the lights exhibit a gradual transition between colours. With the extensive GG software installed on your PC, you can switch to a more dynamic effect.

Furthermore, you have the option to synchronise with your other Steelseries equipment. You can also activate Reflect Mode, which responds to onscreen activity.

Subwoofer and Cables

The subwoofer is a simple black cube with well-placed connection ports on the rear. These include USB-C, 3.5mm aux, optical, and Bluetooth. The multiple options make the Arena 7 a versatile speaker set suitable for many users.

One of the things we appreciate about the Arena 7 is the generous cable length. Each speaker runs its long cables for convenient cable management.

Connectivity

The Arena 7 works simultaneously with USB, Bluetooth, optical, and 3.5mm aux connectivity. You do not need to swap inputs when holding the multifunction button to pair. If you connect your phone via Bluetooth, the speakers will play the music while other audio plays over USB.

Its Bluetooth range can play audio seamlessly, even from a distance. Plus, it has minimal latency.

Hands-on with the SteelSeries Arena 7

We tested the speakers to share their performance and audio quality in this SteelSeries Arena 7 Review. Before discussing our user experience, we will focus on the SteelSeries Sonar, the software for tweaking audio and RGB settings.

SteelSeries Sonar Software

Like other Arena series speakers, the Arena 7 works with SteelSeries Sonar software. It lets you customise RGB LEDs with various patterns and waves.

We enjoyed customising the audio controls in this software when we tested the product for this SteelSeries Arena 7 Review. The Sonar tab allows the creation of profiles for various games and applications with equaliser settings, output volumes, and more.

Aside from custom equaliser settings, you can use built-in presets for specific games.

This utility software also has another integrated app, the PrismSync. It lets you sync RGB  lighting with other SteelSeries devices to coordinate your setup. We were impressed with its intuitive controls since syncing multiple devices was quick and easy.

Audio Quality of the SteelSeries Arena 7

We were immediately impressed upon testing the audio of the speakers. These were crisp and well-balanced with powerful bass tones, making in-game audio punchier and more dynamic.

We used the speakers for gaming, listening to music, and watching videos. One of the things we loved was the crisp and clear frequencies at low and average volume levels. When listening at higher volume levels, the Arena 7 retained the high-quality audio, and we did not hear any distortion.

These speakers also performed excellently in creating a three-dimensional soundscape in games. This audio quality is ideal for titles like Call of Duty, where you need to hear where sounds come from. It also helps determine the location of an opponent on the battlefield.

Aside from the balanced audio, the Arena 7 perfectly presented various sound elements. Vehicles had a deep rumble, but these did not overpower dialogues and other sounds. Thanks to the subwoofer, each gunshot had adequate punch, making the overall audio more realistic.

We used the speakers with their ideal configuration and were impressed with the layered sound. It had excellent clarity, offering broad sound delivery that made our experience more immersive. Although the Arena 7 only has two speakers, it gives us excellent layering and separation.

SteelSeries Arena 7 Review Summary

Like SteelSeries headsets that offer high-quality audio, we enjoyed the same experience with the Arena 7. These speakers deliver impressive sound for gaming and music. Plus, they offer versatility with app customisation and convenience with their accessible controls.

There is nothing to complain about this product, and it is easy to recommend to gamers and audiophiles. The compact build, premium design, and top-notch audio quality make it an excellent upgrade to your desktop audio. It delivered outstanding performance without issues during our tests for this SteelSeries Arena 7 Review.

If you want high-quality speakers for gaming and listening to music, the Arena 7 is the best product for you. This product offers unique features, customisable options, and versatile connectivity at a reasonable price.
