ASUS ROG Keris II Ace Review – Design and Functionality

The Keris II Ace is an ultra-light wireless gaming mouse, weighing only 54g, designed for eSports and competitive gaming. ASUS developed this product with the input of eSports professionals. As a result, it has an ergonomic symmetrical shape that reduces wrist fatigue, making it excellent for FPS enthusiasts.

ASUS offers this mouse in two colours: Black and Moonstone White. Its body has a PBT coating, offering a premium look and a grainy texture. PBT also minimises fingerprints, oil, and fading.

The Keris II Ace has a durable and impressive build quality. It is rigid, feels premium, and has no flex, creaking, or rattling. Plus, its sides feature ridges for better gripping.

If you do not like the ridges, you can use the grips included in the package. They also help improve your grip on the mouse. The grips feature a paper-thin design, so you can enjoy using the mouse without changing its original form.

Aside from the default buttons, it has two side buttons, which are programmable via Armoury Crate. The mouse supports tri-mode connectivity, including direct USB connection, 2.4GHz wireless connection, and Bluetooth. Later in our ASUS ROG Keris II Ace Review, we will discuss the stability of its wireless modes.

In addition, this mouse has a perfectly balanced weight and does not feel heavier on the front or back. It is also lightweight, making it easy to glide for quick gaming movements.

Underneath the mouse, you will find a dedicated slot for the 2.4GHz dongle. You will also notice it uses PTFE feet, allowing for smooth gliding when executing quick movements. ASUS included extra feet in the box if you want to replace the default ones with full-size variants.

Key Features of the ASUS ROG Keris II Ace

High DPI Levels, Working on Various Surfaces

The AimPoint Pro Optical Sensor has below 1% deviation for top-notch precision tracking and movement. It also enables track-on-glass, allowing you to use the mouse on different surfaces, including glass.

Combining the Benefits of Optical and Mechanical

ASUS conducted extensive research before developing the optical microswitches of the Keris II Ace. As a result, these provide clicky, distant actuation, ultra-low input latency, and a 100 million click lifespan. Also, they offer the feel of mechanical switches with the durability of optical variants.

Tri-mode Connectivity

The Keris II Ace functions with wired USB, Bluetooth, and low-latency 2.4GHz RF. All connectivity modes offer superior performance when we tested them for this ASUS ROG Keris II Ace Review. Wireless options were equally reliable as a direct USB connection.

ROG SpeedNova Wireless Technology

The ROG SpeedNova wireless technology offers unparalleled low-latency sub 1ms 2.4GHz RF performance. It is highly reliable and energy-efficient, providing an impressive user experience and long-lasting battery life.

ROG Omni Receiver

Connect multiple supported devices wirelessly using the ROG Omni Receiver. It can maintain gaming-grade wireless polling rates and low latency.

The anti-slip grip tape offers enhanced grip and also adds to the aesthetics.

ROG Paracord Cable and 100% PTFE Mouse Feet

The specially designed textile weave creates a lightweight cable with minimal drag, enhancing the performance of the omnidirectional feet. As a result, the mouse has smooth movement on various surfaces. ASUS provides additional wider feet for user and surface customisation.

Onboard Control and Five User Profiles

You can easily adjust frequently used mouse settings by pressing various mouse-button combinations. Store different profiles for games or applications directly on the Keris II Ace.

Hands-on with the ASUS ROG Keris II Ace

Before discussing the performance of this gaming mouse, our ASUS ROG Keris II Ace Review will focus on Armoury Crate. Although it is not a requirement when using the Keris II Ace, its settings will help you maximise its features. Also, it is your source for firmware updates to maintain the optimal performance of the mouse.

Armoury Crate

Armoury Crate is the centralised software for configuring the settings of the Keris II Ace and other compatible products. The interface shows all the connected devices working with the software so you can conveniently access their settings when necessary.

Armoury Crate also recognises if you paired the Keris II Ace with a compatible keyboard using the Omni receiver.

This mouse has programmable buttons, which you can manage in the Buttons tab. Armoury Crate displays the product with each programmable button labelled, allowing you to click these to change their settings.

The Performance menu shows all other performance-related settings you can configure. You can adjust the DPI, polling rate, and angle tuning. It also lets you switch the angle snapping on or off.

The Lighting tab lets you change the RGB settings. Next is the Calibration tab, which uses the lift-off distance and configures the surface calibration. The menu shows preset surfaces, but you can also do manual calibration.

The Power tab has all the battery-related settings. You can get an alert when the Keris II Ace reaches a specific battery percentage. Plus, you can access lighting and sleep modes.

Finally, the firmware update tab notifies you of updates to download. Doing so ensures the optimal performance of the Keris II Ace.

Performance

We used it for gaming and other activities to discuss its performance in our ASUS ROG Keris II Ace Review. What we immediately noticed was the excellent wireless connectivity. The mouse performed seamlessly with 2.4GHz and Bluetooth.

Although it is the first time to integrate optical switches, the Keris II Ace had no issues with actuation and latency. It performed excellently during our tests, making it an impressive product.

We loved using the mouse for gaming since it was highly responsive. It immediately responded to each click and movement, allowing us to execute commands quickly when timing was crucial. Plus, its PTFE feet slide smoothly, making movements faster and easier.

Aside from gaming, we used the mouse for work. We loved the presence of the two side buttons since we set specific shortcuts on them to boost our productivity. These side buttons were highly responsive and easily accessible, unlike other mice we used before.

The Keris II Ace delivered excellent overall performance, making it ideal for gaming and work. Its symmetrical design effectively prevents wrist fatigue and is comfortable for long periods.
