Beyerdynamic VERIO 200 Review – Open-Back Style That Actually Sounds Good

The recent wireless earbuds and headphones have innovative features like adaptive noise cancellation and transparency modes. These functions let users control the sound environment of their audio devices. However, these features are no longer necessary with the new open-ear headphones featured in our Beyerdynamic VERIO 200 Review.

The Verio 200 are entirely open headphones that let you keep in touch with your surroundings while enjoying music. Beyerdynamic claims these headphones can deliver a superior musical experience despite having an open design. Aside from its ergonomic design that offers high-quality audio, its microphones use algorithms to ensure speech intelligibility during calls.

How do these headphones perform? Can they deliver what Beyerdynamic promises? Continue reading our comprehensive Beyerdynamic VERIO 200 Review, which will discuss all the details you need to know.

Beyerdynamic VERIO 200 Packaging

Beyerdynamic VERIO 200 Review – Design and Functionality

Beyerdynamic offers the Verio 200 in three colour choices: black, cream, and sport (orange & black). All variants come with a matching charging case that matches the colour of the headphones.

The Verio 200 has a clip-on design positioning the drivers outside your ear canal. We found these headphones interesting when we wore them during our tests for this Beyerdynamic VERIO 200 Review.

The design and fit are unconventional. The ear hooks angle over the ears until the ear speakers align with your ears. Plus,  the earpieces sit next to the ears and inserting the headphones into the ear canal is unnecessary. Although there is no insertion, the ear speakers fit snugly and do not feel loose or awkward.

The flat matte silicone case is large enough to accommodate the oversized earpieces. Its lid has the Beyerdynamic logo, while the side has a pairing button. You will also find a USB-C port on the rear.

Connectivity and Functionality

The VERIO 200 uses Bluetooth 5.3 and supports aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, and AAC codecs. These ensure excellent functionality and audio quality.

One of the things that impressed us during our tests for this Beyerdynamic VERIO 200 Review was its battery life. Beyerdynamic claims it can last up to eight hours on a single charge, which is adequate for an entire day.

The charging case provides an additional 27 hours of power, letting you enjoy 35 hours of total playback time.

These headphones use Qualcomm aptX Voice technology for excellent call quality.  The product also has a dual-microphone setup for cancelling background noise. As a result, the VERIO 200 transmits voices with superior clarity.

Key Features of the Beyerdynamic VERIO 200

Exceptional Audio Quality

The VERIO 200 uses the latest codecs and a powerful dynamic driver to deliver impressive sound quality. Whether you listen to music and podcasts or take phone calls, your experience will be enjoyable.

Open Ear Design

The open hook design of the VERIO 200 is lightweight and delivers excellent ergonomics. It sits comfortably on the ear instead of inside. With this feature, you can keep in touch with your surroundings while enjoying your favourite music.

Unparalleled Speech Intelligibility

Speech intelligibility is one of the noteworthy features of these headphones. We want to emphasise this in our Beyerdynamic VERIO 200 Review since it is a unique element in open headphones.

The two integrated microphones of the VERIO 200 use cVc technology to ensure top-notch vocal transmission. These cancel ambient noise and transmit voices with excellent clarity.

Hands-on with the Beyerdynamic VERIO 200

Beyerdynamic App

Beyerdynamic refreshed the Beyerdynamic app for the VERIO 200. Its interface looks better and is easier to navigate. This app improved our user experience when we tested it for this Beyerdynamic VERIO 200 Review.

The main screen displays an image of the VERIO 200 with battery life readouts for the earpieces and charging case.

Below the screen are four tiles and a playback section displaying an animated sound wave graphic. You will also find the same design in the EQ section, which offers five bands for customisation. Plus, you can choose from several presets, including classical, pop, jazz, and rock.

Other things you can tweak via the app include the auto power-off function and voice assistant access. Plus, you can adjust the default control layout, rename the headphones, perform a factory reset, and more.

Sound Quality

When we tested the headphones for this Beyerdynamic VERIO 200 Review, we immediately noticed they focused on higher frequencies. It had less emphasis on the bass range due to the air transmission principle of its open design.

The low-end has a bright sound signature, a typical aspect of the Beyerdynamic profile. Its bass was present but gentle, and it remained noticeable despite the headphones not being sealed enough. Although the audio was not bass-heavy, the VERIO 200 provided sufficient body to the sound, matching the airy timbre.

The mid-range was the primary highlight of these headphones since it was full of detail and clarity. Despite that, the headphones did not overpower the rest of the frequency range. They delivered superior vocal clarity and instrument reproduction, making them versatile for calls, listening to podcasts, and music.

We recommend not turning up the volume too loudly since it causes minimal crosstalk from the headphones to the microphones. The caller on the other end will also hear an echo with high volume levels.

Like the mid-range, the highs were also bright, offering a splashy effect without harshness or sibilance. Since these headphones have an open design, the sound profile also emphasises the high-end.

We loved the solid soundstage that offered a balanced width, making our listening experiences more immersive. We were surprised with the impactful soundstage since the VERIO 200 had an open design and was not bass-heavy.

These headphones delivered an impressive overall audio quality. Although it does not have spatial audio, it is versatile and offers high-quality audio.
