Logitech G435 Lightspeed Review – Design and Functionality

We looked further into the product to give you more details in our Logitech G435 Lightspeed Review. At 165g, the headset is extremely lightweight and comfortable; plus, you can easily adjust its sliding arms for each cup. It helps provide the perfect fit on your head to avoid discomfort while in use.

Aside from its lightweight design, the G435 Lightspeed also sports soft and comfy earpads made from memory foam. These are large enough to sit around your ears instead of on them. Moreover, the headset can stay secure on your head without uncomfortable clamping.

Its fit is perfect for people who wear glasses. Why? Because it does not press the arms of your eyeglasses to the sides of your head. Despite the headband not having enough padding, it is not an issue since the headset is lightweight.

Its memory foam ear pads are breathable, preventing your ears from getting stuffy and warm. However, it still bleeds a notable amount of sound partly because of its plastic form.

Unlike most gaming headsets, the G435 Lightspeed does not feature a microphone arm. Instead, it has a dual beamforming mic integrated into the earcups.

While these are primarily for gamers, the headset does not appear flashy. That means you can wear them on work calls since the headset does not have LED lights.

While writing this Logitech G435 Lightspeed Review, we also checked on the product battery, controls, and connectivity. Logitech gave us an easy-to-access power and volume control, which you can find at the back of its left earcup. However, you will not find playback controls to play/pause music or when answering calls.

A mic mute button is also present, and it works to shift between the USB dongle and Bluetooth connection. This process makes it more convenient to switch between your PC and Smartphone.

A USB-C port is also available for charging, which you can use with the included USB-C to A cable. However, keep in mind that there is no AC adapter included.

You can get 18 hours of music playback from this headset, which is impressive given its lightweight design. This build and style do not leave much room for integrated batteries.

You cannot check its battery level, though you can estimate it by pressing the power button. If you see a green LED, it means the power is higher than 30%. When it is red, it indicates the battery is below 30.

Once it starts flashing red, your battery is below 15%. The headset will also begin beeping to notify you to charge. Fortunately, you can still use the headset while charging via USB.

Remember that the headset does not feature a 3.5mm analogue audio cable connection. It only means you cannot link to an Xbox.

Connectivity-wise, you can use Bluetooth or the USB dongle. The latter is compatible with Windows 10 or later, the PlayStation 4 and 5, plus macOS 10.14 or later. This headset features a dual-embedded beamforming mic with the following audio formats:

Hands-on with the Logitech G435 Lightspeed

This Logitech G435 Lightspeed Review will discuss our hands-on experience with the headset to provide details about the product.

Audio Quality

On its sound profile, the G435 Lightspeed provides clear and accurate audio. The product under-emphasises sub-bass audio and then increases on mid-range sounds and bass.

The treble dropped earlier than expected. However, there are plenty of non-noticeable sounds higher than 10kHz in games, movies, and music for you to miss.

There is plenty of clarity on voices, instruments, and other detailed sounds. Louder sounds do not drown these out, which is excellent. However, its underemphasised sub-bass only means low and rumbling bass sounds lack impact.

The bass and rhythm guitar was slightly quiet, but the drums and synth never overpowered it. In most genres, the G435 Lightspeed offered a similar solid experience. However, tracks with a droning bass may lack impact with this headset.

Its frequency response did not cause issues in video games, no matter which title we played. Although the lack of sub-bass emphasis reduced the rumble of gunfire and explosions, the audio quality was still good. Plus, these sounds were still the loudest in particular scenarios.

The slight emphasis on the midrange and upper bass made voice chats in Discord more audible. As a result, we communicated with our teammates properly.

Although it did not have a customisable EQ, the warm sound profile enhanced game sound effects. Plus, we found the volume limiter handy since the limit was adjustable to 85 or 100dB.

Battery

As we mentioned, Logitech claims that the battery of the G435 Lightspeed lasts up to 18 hours. But to our surprise, it lasted slightly longer than that. With a consistent output of 75dB, the headset lasted 23 hours and 10 minutes.

Logitech G435 Lightspeed Review Summary

The G435 Lightspeed is a good headset from Logitech that is ideal for young users. Its lightweight, wireless design makes it excellent for users who want long-lasting comfort and convenience. Plus, you can connect it wirelessly or via USB.

Aside from its superior comfort, its sound quality is better than expected. Although not audiophile-grade, it was excellent for game audio and voice chats. Also, the volume limiter effectively helps protect the hearing of users.

Overall, we highly recommend the G435 Lightspeed. It is a high-quality headset that uses recycled materials to help save the environment.
