TEAMGROUP T-FORCE Cardea Zero Z440 Review

Today we will share another product from TEAMGROUP – a 4th Generation drive. The Cardea Zero Z440 is a fast SSD we tested for our TEAMGROUP T-FORCE Cardea Zero Z440 Review.

We will discuss our hands-on experience with it and other essential details related to the product. These include its features, functions, design, and specifications.

TEAMGROUP T-FORCE Cardea Zero Z440 Packaging

We will start our TEAMGROUP T-FORCE Cardea Zero Z440 Review by checking its packaging and contents. The SSD arrived in a cardboard box that houses a secure blister container.

In front of the package, an image of the SSD on a red and white background is on display. The main features of the product are available below.

The back of the box shows a complete list of its technical specifications. Then the left portion features two images serving as the installation guide.

Inside, the product has decent protection against any impact during shipping. It is set in place via a plastic tray, though we would appreciate it more if there was more protection.

TEAMGROUP T-FORCE Cardea Zero Z440 Review – Design and Functionality

The Cardea Zero Z440 sports a simple design with a matte black label in front with a white label behind. While writing our TEAMGROUP T-FORCE Cardea Zero Z440 Review, we also noticed a light blue PCB in the area.

The front label is copper and graphene-made and offers more optimised cooling than standard copper labels.

Important information about the SSD, including technical specifications, can be found at the back. There is a model number for the 1TB version and a warranty seal on it.

The copper foil is as thin as the back sticker. It provides space and compatibility with any existing heat sink on a motherboard. The combination of ultra-thin copper foil and heat sink from a motherboard also provides double cooling performance.

Once installed in a motherboard, the copper label produces a gold reflection effect. Then when struck by a lightning setup inside the rig, it turns into an RGB M.2 SSD.

Our TEAMGROUP T-FORCE Cardea Zero Z440 Review also looked into its interior. The Cardea Zero Z440 uses a Phison PS5016-E16 controller – an 8-channel controller supporting TLC & QLC flash memory chips.

The DRAM cache on the product is from SK Hynix. And it is 1GB divided into two DDR4 memory chips (512MB x2). These chips run at 2400MHz.

Toshiba manufactured its 96-layer BiCS4 3D TLC NAND flash memory chips. You can find these installed on both sides of the PCB.

The company also opted to use the PCIe Gen 4 x4 interface for its SSD. Plus, all the M.2 sockets and PCIe platforms are backwards-compatible with the product.

Well-proportioned for Transferring Heat Sources Together

The patented ultra-thin graphene heat spreader efficiently prevents device interference during installation. You can use this SSD on current motherboards and M.2 slots.

Aside from its slim aesthetic, this product delivers ultimate performance. The SSD can transfer heat sources even without the cooling module of the motherboard. As a result, it provides high-speed performance for gamers.

3D NAND and PCIe 4.0 to Enhance Capacity and Performance

The 3D flash memory stacked in a 3D way offers up to 1TB of storage. It is downward compatible with PCIe 3.0 to improve the experience of gamers. Plus, this SSD can satisfy the demands of large-scale data computing tasks.

Ultra-thin Graphene Heat Spreader for Excellent Heat Dissipation

T-FORCE performed rigorous burn-in and internal laboratory tests on the Cardea Zero Z440. The graphene heat spreader can provide over 9% cooling effect during continuous three-hour read/write tasks.

Later in our TEAMGROUP T-FORCE Cardea Zero Z440 Review, we will continue discussing the heat spreader and heat dissipation. We will let you know if it dissipates heat, as well as TEAMGROUP claims.

Trustworthy and Reliable Smart Management Technology

The Cardea Zero Z440 has an integrated algorithm management mechanism. It uses functions like garbage collection (GC), low-density parity check code (LDPC), TRIM, command, E2E data protection, etc. These provide efficient operation to prolong the lifespan of the SSD and ensure data security.

Aside from being reliable in security, it maximises the performance and stability of data transfers.

Specifications

Let us share the specifications of this SSD in our TEAMGROUP T-FORCE Cardea Zero Z440 Review. It has an M.2 type-2280 form factor, measures 80 x 22 x 3.5mm, and weighs 9g.

Our SSD has a PCIe 4.0 x4 with a 1TB capacity and BiSC NAND TLC. TEAMGROUP uses a Phison PS5016-E16 controller with AES-256 encryption and has a 1800TBW.

The maximum sequential read/write of this SSD is 5000Mbps/4000Mbps. Then, random 4K read/writes are 750000 IOPS. Plus, MTBF is 1.7 million hours.

The Cardea Zero Z440 works with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11, and Vista. However, it works best with operating systems above Windows 8.1 since previous versions do not natively support NVMe drivers. It is also compatible with Linux 2.6.33 and later versions and works with AMD and Intel platforms.

Lastly, TEAMGROUP included a five-year limited warranty for the product.

TEAMGROUP T-FORCE Cardea Zero Z440 Review Summary

The Cardea Zero Z440 from TEAMGROUP is excellent for PCIe 3.0 and 4.0 platforms. It delivers outstanding performance, even with the limitations of PCIe 3.0.

The best thing about the T-FORCECardea Zero Z440 is its performance. When we tested the product for our TEAMGROUP T-FORCE Cardea Zero Z440 Review, we did not experience alarming issues. Its operation was seamless in our read/write tests, and data transfers were stable, thanks to its heat-dissipating elements.

When we compared it with copper, the graphene heat spreaders worked better and more efficiently in maintaining acceptable temperature levels. However, we still recommend a dedicated heatsink since the SSD gets warm, specifically when boosting its performance.

Aside from good performance and heat dissipation, TEAMGROUP used high-quality materials to provide the SSD with an excellent build. The company used a Phison controller, Toshiba memory chips, and a DDR4 DRAM cache by SK Hynix.

Another impressive factor of the Cardea Zero Z440 is its endurance rating of 1800TBW. It is ideal for users who render videos or move massive files in one go. Plus, it has a five-year warranty for your peace of mind,

Overall we highly recommend the Cardea Zero Z440 for gamers and content creators. This product is a superior M.2 SSD for PCIe 4.0 and works with PCIe 3.0. It has a high capacity, fast read/write scores, and can operate while maintaining acceptable temperature levels.
