T-Force is a name almost everyone knows when we speak of memory and storage. Today, we will discuss a notable SSD in our Teamgroup T-Force G70 Pro Review.
Last year, the company launched the G70 Pro along with other units from the line. It uses a PCIe Gen 4×4 interface, a controller from InnoGrit, and more.
Continue reading our Teamgroup T-Force G70 Pro Review because we will talk about its specifications, design, and functions. We will also look into its features and how it performs when tested.
Teamgroup T-Force G70 Pro Packaging
Teamgroup packed the G70 Pro in a black cardboard box. The front panel shows the SSD and highlights its storage capacity. Plus, you will find the company branding, product name, and patent logo.
On the rear, Teamgroup lists the technical specifications of the G70 Pro. You will also find simple installation instructions illustrated underneath the product specs. The right portion of this panel provides a link directing to the more detailed warranty information.
The bottom portion shows the SSD in blister packaging, displaying the part with the informative sticker. You will also see various certifications close to it.
Removing the product from the cardboard box, you will find the unit arranged on a transparent plastic. Like other SSD products from Teamgroup, it is the only item inside the box.
Teamgroup T-Force G70 Pro Review – Design and Functionality
Teamgroup offers the G70 Pro with two heat dissipation variants. One has a thin graphene sheet to accommodate memory chips, while the other has a voluminous aluminium heatsink.
The graphene heatsink is a patented thermal solution, making it a unique feature of the G70 Pro. This 1mm heatsink is composed of graphene, a popular and innovative material that effectively dissipates heat. As a result, the SSD becomes ideal for daily tasks since graphene can hold up with the heatsink.
The model with aluminium heatsinks focuses on high-performance devices like the PS5. Since this gaming console does not generate adequate airflow, it needs the aid in heat generation from an external heatsink.
We observed its thermal performance when we tested the product for this Teamgroup T-Force G70 Pro Review. Its temperatures remained low throughout our tests and proved these heat-dissipating features worked efficiently.
Design, Layout, and Heatsinks of the Teamgroup T-Force G70 Pro
The G70 Pro has a conventional M.2 2280 layout. Its dimensions and weight differ on the included heatsink.
The SSD has a simple appearance with a black finish, and it features the T-Force branding in white text. The other side has a sticker with technical information and various certifications.
As mentioned, the G70 Pro has two types of heatsinks. The graphene heatsink resembles a thin sticker placed on the SSD. It is ideal for laptops or PS5 consoles since these have no room for bulky heatsinks. The aluminium heatsink, on the other hand, attaches to the sides of the SSD with screws.
Interface and Speeds
The G70 Pro has a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface and uses an NVMe 1.4 protocol. Our SSD has a 1TB capacity, but you can choose from 512GB, 2TB, and 4B.
Teamgroup equipped it with TLC-type 3D NAND chips, and unlike the older models using Phison, it uses an Innogrit controller. Innogrit is a Chinese company that manufactures SSD controllers notable for good value for money. This controller has 8 NAND channels and supports MLC, SLC, TLD, TRIM, and QLC NAND Flash.
The 1TB SSD can reach 7400 MB/s and 5500 MB/s for sequential read and write speeds. However, Teamgroup did not provide its random speeds.
The construction process used for the G70 Pro is 12nm FinFET CMOS. It supports DDR SDRAM with a 32-bit or 32+8 data bus.
Finally, Teamgroup included a DRAM for buffer and SLC for cache to improve its overall performance. Although it lacks hardware encryption, it has other features that reduce wear and prevent errors.
