Smart home security solutions are experiencing significant growth today, and more people install them in their homes and offices. Because of this, Reolink has gained more attention in the security camera market. Today, our Reolink Home Hub and Camera Review will feature the Home Hub, Argus 4 Pro, and Argus PT Ultra.

Reolink has consistently offered reliable, user-friendly, professional-grade, and budget-friendly security products for homes and businesses. As a result, more people trust these products to keep their properties safe and protected.

What makes the Home Hub, Argus 4 Pro, and Argus PT Ultra excellent for home security? We tested these products to share our user experience and their performance in this Reolink Home Hub and Camera Review.

Reolink Home Hub and Camera Review – Design and Functionality

Before testing the products for this Reolink Home Hub and Camera Review, we examined their design, parts, and functions. We will first discuss everything about the Home Hub.

Reolink Home Hub

The Home Hub has a minimalist, rectangular design with a clean white finish and rounded edges. It offers a sleek, modern look that blends easily with any home aesthetic. Plus, its compact form factor makes it unobtrusive.

The Reolink logo and the power button are in front of the Home Hub. The top surface features an LED indicator, while the rear houses all the ports for easy connectivity.

Reolink Argus 4 Pro

The Argus 4 Pro featured in our Reolink Home Hub and Camera Review is the latest Reolink flagship product. It is also the successor to the Argus 3 Pro, which Reolink released three years ago.

Reolink claims the Argus 4 Pro is the first security camera to offer full-colour night vision. Its only variant features a white housing.

The Argus 4 Pro has two lenses separated by a few centimetres, almost pointing sideways. Between them, you will find an LED status light and a spotlight. The sides feature the IR lights, while the PIR motion sensor is underneath.

This security camera has an onboard microSD slot on the rear. Its waterproof flap cover protects it from harsh weather conditions.

Reolink is known for its onboard microSD storage options, and the Argus 4 Pro also has one on its rear. It features a waterproof flap covering the slot. This camera also has another separate flap concealing the USB-C power input port.

Reolink Argus PT Ultra

The Argus PT Ultra resembles the PT 2K but with a larger antenna. Another difference is the spotlights surrounding the primary lens.

Aside from these, the rest of its design remained the same. It has an identical shape and still has a mic and speaker for two-way communication.

The rear of the Argus PT Ultra features a USB-C port and power button. You will also find the microSD card slot with a waterproof cover under the camera head.

Key Features of the Reolink Home Hub and Camera

The Home Hub rings the alarm to notify you if something triggers the IP camera. It helps protect your home with multi-layered alarms. It also allows you to customise the alarm ringtones based on your preferences.

We tested this feature while testing the products for this Reolink Home Hub and Camera Review. We were surprised since it sent notifications and alarms only when necessary.

Hands-free Camera Accessibility

The Home Hub works with voice commands for hands-free access. It also allows monitoring the status of your property via Google Nest Hub or Chromecast-enabled TVs.

When saving recordings on the Home Hub, you can quickly view monthly, weekly, and daily statistics of motion detection events. These are accessible via the Reolink app, which displays all events chronologically for convenient searching.

Each Home Hub can have one administrator account and ten sub-accounts.

Hands-on with the Reolink Home Hub and Camera

We focused on the installation process before testing the products for this Reolink Home Hub and Camera Review. Of course, we started with the Home Hub since we needed it ready for the cameras to connect.

Reolink Home Hub and Camera Installation and Setup

Like other Reolink products, the Home Hub is easy to install and set up. After inserting the microSD card, we connected the Home Hub to our router network before plugging it for power.

Once powered on, we opened the Reolink app to set it up. We went to the settings menu and enabled Add Devices Automatically. Next, we went to the list of devices and selected the Home Hub. We followed the given prompts and instructions, such as installing the firmware updates, creating a device password, and more.

The app also prompted us to format the SD card and enable file encryption for data security. We also had to set an encryption code before completing the setup process.

After this, we added our cameras. You can do this via the QR code on the products or by adding new devices via the Reolink app.

The Argus 4 Pro can connect via Bluetooth, an upgrade that eliminates the traditional QR scanning. Before you can do this, the Reolink app must have access to Bluetooth and location permissions. Once it established a Bluetooth connection, we chose our WiFi network and entered the password.

The Argus PT Ultra also has the same installation process. You can use the Reolink app to connect it to the Home Hub or scan its QR code before installing it outdoors.

We appreciate the straightforward interface of the Reolink app. Navigating the menus was quick, easy, and convenient since everything was easy to find. The app worked seamlessly, and we had no problems connecting these products during installation.

Reolink Home Hub Performance

The Home Hub worked efficiently during our tests. Connecting our cameras was quick and straightforward, and we had no issues. Also, recordings were easily accessible via the Reolink app.

Another thing we appreciate about the Home Hub is its reliability. It instantly signalled us when motion triggered our connected cameras.

Reolink Argus 4 Pro Performance and Video Quality

The video quality of the Argus 4 Pro was impressive, which we expected from Reolink.

Daytime footage had an ultra-wide 5120×1440 (8MP) resolution at 15fps, offering crisp and detailed videos. However, the quality was not highly visible on mobile since phone screens are not for wide display. We had to zoom in to appreciate the quality of the Argus 4 Pro recordings.

We noticed we could choose between two resolutions when viewing the camera feed. The lower resolution had adequate clarity, but the higher mode offered more crisp details, even from a distance.

The Argus 4 Pro has options for nighttime recordings: normal-colour night vision and ColorX technology. The normal mode uses the spotlight, which offered more vivid colours during our tests, but some videos had lens flares.

ColorX, on the other hand, uses ambient light instead of the spotlight to capture colour visuals. It captured videos with vivid colours, and most objects were visible. Unlike in normal mode, there were no lens flares, but the details from a distance were not highly visible.

Argus PT Ultra Performance and Video Quality

The videos we captured with the Argus PT Ultra for this Reolink Home Hub and Camera Review were superior. We noticed the clarity and visible details, and the images remained crisp when we zoomed them in. We also saw improved contrast and reduced noise compared to the previously released cameras.

Its motion detection was also excellent. The Argus PT Ultra accurately identified humans, animals, and cars, even from a distance. We were impressed since it detected cars underneath tree branches, triggering our Home Hub to send an alarm.
