Corsair Virtuoso Pro Review – Design and Functionality

This streaming/gaming headset sports an open-back design featuring impressive hardware. It features an attractively stylish design that is also comfortable for hours of wear.

When unboxing the product for our Corsair Virtuoso Pro Review, we noticed its design blends function with form. However, it leans towards balancing a robust build with light weight.

We love its open-back ear cups since these are stylish and look premium. And instead of using simple mesh grilles, Corsair opted for precision-cut aluminium faceplates, which adds to its aesthetics. This design also allows you to see the driver inside.

Its driver has dark metal bracings that line with a lighter outer ring on the face. This aesthetic draws your attention to the metal yokes accented with silver bezels.

We love its well-built body since its grilles, yokes, and headband are all reinforced metal. Its ear cups are plastic for a reasonable weight at just 338g.

Aside from an excellent build and lightweight body, the Virtuoso Pro has a soft headband and cushions. These are also cloth-lined to provide breathability.

Its grip force is adequate and is not uncomfortable when worn for hours. It also helped the headband distribute balanced weight for the headset.

Aside from offering adequate comfort, the headband cushions and ear pads are removable and replaceable. We appreciate Corsair for making these easy to remove for cleaning and replacement. When investing in a pricey headset, having replaceable parts is essential to avoid replacing the entire product.

Graphene Diaphragms

Earlier versions of the Virtuoso line incorporated 50mm drivers; however, the Pro edition shifts to using graphene diaphragms. The diaphragm of a speaker, essentially its cone, spans the area from the outer perimeter to the centre. It oscillates to produce sound.

Graphene stands out for its combination of lightness and stiffness. These aspects allow quick responsiveness that enhances the clarity and detail of the audio output.

These features also enable broader extensions into the lower bass and higher treble ranges. It increases the auditory experience with greater detail and texture.

This enhancement is starkly evident compared to previous Virtuoso models. It offers a level of clarity in sound that is exceptional in the series.

Corsair Virtuoso Pro Microphone

The Virtuoso Pro has a pair of cables that reflect the design of the Audeze LCD-GX. These include a cable that integrates a boom microphone and another without it.

The boom microphone connects to the audio cable on its left side. It is set below the left earpiece when connected.

The unidirectional microphone features a frequency range of 100Hz to 10,000Hz. Its sensitivity level is -41dB (with a ±3dB tolerance and the microphone mounts on a 127mm flexible arm.

You will find a manual switch for muting the microphone where the left audio cable and the mic arm meet. Specifically, it is just beneath the left earpiece.

Hands-on with the Corsair Virtuoso Pro

We used the headset for gaming, listening to music, and voice calls to test its audio quality. Product tests allow us to share its performance in our Corsair Virtuoso Pro Review. Our user experience can help you decide if this product will meet your needs.

Audio Quality – Gaming

The Virtuoso Pro offered a rich and airy listening experience, thanks to the carbonised drivers and open-back design. Its bass was wide with defined punchiness. Explosions were impactful with an adequate thump, making our gameplay more immersive.

Playing first-person shooters was more exciting since the pounding grenades and blasting tanks were highly audible. Aside from the loud sounds, the headset revealed softer sounds, like enemy footsteps. It refined various sound elements, which significantly enhanced our gaming experience.

Although the bass was impactful, the audio did not get lost in the low-end. We loved its balance with the sparkling mids and forward highs.

Even with chaotic sounds, picking out the sound and position of enemies was easy. Also, we did not struggle with communication in Discord calls since the audio cut through despite all the in-game action.

The open-back ear cups made the highs spacious, enhancing the soundstage that stretched the audio layers. Gunshots and footsteps were easy to locate without software-based virtual surround sound assistance.

Aside from being spacious, the highs and upper mids were highly detailed. The Virtuoso Pro perfectly reproduced multi-layered audio in different environments, allowing us to improve our gaming performance.

Audio Quality – Music

We immediately noticed its powerful bass when we listened to music using the Virtuoso Pro. It was also rich with texture, resembling the audio from a subwoofer. The headset also offers excellent positionality with prominent vocals from the forefront, making it ideal for pop and hip-hop.

Rock and metal music sound best with the Virtuoso. The headset maintained audible layering amidst the pounding drums, frantic guitar riffs, and screaming vocals. We loved the accuracy of this headset and how it blended elements well.

Microphone

After testing the audio quality, we also used the microphone to share its performance in our Corsair Virtuoso Pro Review. We used it for video chats and found it impressive, though we had trouble picking up enough volume.

We had to turn it up to allow our teammates to hear us in voice chats.

However, we had no complaints since we had available software to increase the gain. After a few adjustments, the microphone captured our voices loud and clear.

Despite the drawback of its volume level, we appreciated its broadcast-quality audio. Also, its noise-cancellation effectively worked since it did not pick up background noise like our PC fan noise, keyboard, etc.
